“Nice Family Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

We stayed for a long weekend at the Tradewinds. The first thing you notice about Tradewinds is the lovely staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, but not at all pretentious. The resort has a few different buildings - we stayed on the far side of the Jacaranda building in a standard suite (#2204). We were offered to pay for an upgrade to ocean front but didn't feel the need. Glad we didn't as we had a nice private area that overlooked the property's canal and had a bit of an ocean view. Yes we saw another building and a parking lot, too, but it was still a nice place to sit and have coffee in the morning. It was definitely a good location with smaller kids (6 & 4) since it didn't face the pool or any restaurants/activities that might have been a little louder into the evening. Yes you had to walk a bit further to the pools/beach, but it really wasn't that far (1-2 minutes), so I'll take the quiet location.

The rooms have been updated and were quite clean. The bed was a little soft my taste and definitely more comfy with just me in the bed - when my husband got in there was a little 'roll' into the middle, but not uncomfortable. The pillows were good - nice variety of firmness. Very quiet - never heard showers above or people in other rooms. One night we did hear some noise from the courtyard (not too loud), but we just turned on the bathroom fan for some white noise and problem solved. I will say, the standard suite is a little small. Fine for us with small kids, but I think too small with teenagers (maybe ok for a long weekend, but a week would have been too much). It's great having two rooms when you have little kids who go to bed early, though. But the living area - with 1 couch, 3 person table and small kitchenette - was tight with all 4 of us in it. And the bedroom was also small with both double beds against a wall on one side. The shower/toilet room was tiny. The sink was in the bedroom, but it was difficult to put anything down. With 2 toiletry bags and toothbrushes/paste for a family of 4, there was no where to put anything else. I took to placing my bag on the dresser when not using it so we had somewhere to put water glasses and such. Also, there wasn't a single place for a washcloth or hand towel? You'd have to walk into the shower room with dripping hands/face to get a towel. A hook on the wall would have been very helpful. Also, behind you as you stand at the sink is a nice alcove - a little table there would have made a world of difference to put your needed items within easy reach.

Pools are heated and kids had fun in them. They do get crowded, but with 4 family pools and 1 adult only you can find somewhere that suits you. Lots of seats around them and we never had a problem finding a couple chairs together. Not always poolside, but the next level up where we could still see the pool and were a closer walk to the beach. Kids loved the giant water slide on the beach. Lots of cabanas available for rent. Paddle boat was great fun - sometimes a longish wait, though. We only ate at the poolside place which is casual fare. Fine but pretty basic and resort pricing. Mini golf was a huge hit. Walks around the property. All in all, a very nice long weekend trip away from the cold northeast. Would definitely recommend to my friends with kids.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing pool/ocean/courtyard are quieter.

We were there for 4 days. The room was terrific - spacious, clean and nice view of ocean. Housekeeping was okay - first day no service and second day we had to track them down. Overall, staff pleasant.

Everyone provided great customer service. The person that stands out the most was Hassan. He was the restaurant manager at the Bermuda. He made sure we had the best service and food possible. I would definitely recommend this resort to any of my friends and family. I also liked how secure the resort felt. Even all the guest seemed to be in good moods.

We have been returning to Tradewinds Island Grand for over 20 years and find this little piece of Heaven to be a perfect vacation spot for all ages. Once again the beautiful beach, incredible staff, wonderful restaurants on and off "campus"and beautiful pools gave our family a loaded scrapbook filled with great memories.
We began coming to Tradewinds when our yougest of 4 children was 12. Two of our children and their families joined us this year . My dream is for all 4 children and all 5 (and 1 on the way) grandchildren to join us in the coming years.
I highly recommend this resort for any family that would like to begin a family tradition that will never disapoint. This resort continues to upgrade the grounds and services offered and strives to be the best family and company meeting resort on the Gulf. Thankyou Tradewinds for another wonderful vacation.

We stayed for 2 nights in Breckenridge!

Rooms:
They are a little “tired” but I thought they were great. I really liked having a mini refrigerator and microwave.

Grounds:
I really liked how there was so much space to walk around and explore – and LOTS of food options! We didn’t get a chance to take the paddleboats – looked cool though!

Pools/Beach:
We spent most of our time at the “adult” pool – and it was so nice not to have kids around! We didn’t have any problems getting a chair. Also liked how you could reserve a cabana online! We didn’t get a chance to go down the blow up water slide on the beach.

Restaurants:
We ate at the Tiki Bar (had a burger, nice to be able to sit outside) and it was very nice to have the option of eating on property without having to get in a car. In the main lobby of the resort they have a deli with breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, and a ton of snacks! I got a muffin every morning! They also have a Starbucks/bar in the lobby (doesn’t look like a Starbucks but sells Starbucks - not fancy drinks but does the trick). We also grabbed breadsticks at the Pizza Hut and one day had ice cream there as well! So nice to have so many options right there!

My only big complaint was the wifi was very slow and most of the time I shut it off and used data.

Overall – I thought it was a great resort and would definitely stay again!

We ate lunch onsite just one day during our stay and had such a good experience with Ban at the Tiki Hut. She was friendly and attentive and so helpful in finding a gluten free option for me. The rooms are very clean and well equipped. The beach cabanas are fantastic and booking them online was fast and easy.

Hello Erindawson,
Ban at the Tiki Hut is fantastic, isn't she!? We're glad she was able to help you find a gluten-free option for lunch, which shouldn't be hard since we offer a special gluten-free menu in all of our dining outlets on property. It's also great to hear our online cabana reservation system was easy and helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope to see you again soon!

Leni

Audrey was awesome! She was in charge of our room, keeping it cleaned and stocked! She made us smile every day; we loved her. My kids would even look for her throughout the day to joke around with her. She was truly one of the highlights of our trip! Awesome time. Great beach, great location! We have been here in the past and we will be back in the future.
