Overpriced beachfront property. Wasn't expecting much and we didn't get much. Booked through a third party and were treated like 2nd class citizens for doing so. Asked for a rollaway for my 86 year old Mother in Law and was told they didn't have any which would have been fine, but when we asked to move to a different room we were told we couldn't because we booked through a third party. When I checked out I asked for a receipt and was told that they do not provide receipts for those that book through a third party as if ALL hotels do this. ??? I don't think so.....
Room was clean but service bad. Room wasn't cleaned until late afternoon each day. Several times we had to call for clean towels because they didn't replace the dirty ones on the floor.
Parking lot had a gate that you had to use your room key to activate, but half the time (usually in the middle of the night) the gate was open anyway. Just a stupid inconvenience.
Beach bar was nice, food average, service average. No buckets of beer available to take to the beach.
Sand volleyball courts nice, Pool clean and heated. Deck area nice with plenty of chairs.
Nice to have microwave and fridge in room along with 12 cup coffeemaker.
Noisy in the morning with outside work, mowers, jackhammers beginning at 7:30 AM, etc.
Halls noisy at times at night, but we expected that on spring break.
Carts available to take your luggage to your room. Coin laundry available on 1st and 4th floor.
I'm a competitive bodybuilder, so proximity to a gym is important to me. About 2 blocks up from the hotel was a nice little gym (Beach Bodies) with some cardio, (including stepmill) circuit machines, and full set of dumbbells and smith machine. One week membership for 24 hours was $17.25. Gold's gym about 6 miles away in St. Petersburg. We used Gold's on a travel pass most of the time, but the little gym was nice for evening workout.
7-11 is across the street and Publix supermarket, walgreens is about a mile away if that.
Beach is excellent. Lots of chairs with cushions and umbrella canopies available for $20 per day. Weekly rates were also available. Surf activities were right there including Kayaks, wakeboards, paddleboards etc.
Last time we visited St. Pete's we stayed at The Postcard Inn a block away and it is worth the extra money.
