We booked a beachside room at the Beachcomber for our vacation. We were shocked at how outdated everything was in the hotel and in our room, not to mention the roaches. The towels were rough and worn, the carpets and fixtures are old enough to be "retro" but not in the good sense. "Beachside" is one of the higher priced options being the closest to the sand, but here it does not mean you can actually see the beach. You can see a building by the pool, the bars and ramps but that's about it. There was some very drunken fighting going on next door and we called the front desk as it had been going on for a long time. The desk said they knew who it was, that "they're like that a lot" but they did take care of it. I found that odd. The beach bar is very nice and the bar staff are VERY friendly. The promised "comedy club" had nothing, the promised "Sports Bar" is a bar out of time machine (70's, early 80's) with lots of mirrors, dark bar surrounded by regulars and some TV's spread out with sports on them. I can't tell you how bad the drinks were, but after one sip I refused to drink it. They were like the "hooch" at a frat party minus the alcohol.

We have been staying at the Beachcomber Hotel for 12 years now and will continue this tradition every October. The staff are all terrific, friendly and accommodating in every way. Players (the sports bar) is a favorite at night and Jimmy B's beach bar provides fun, sun & cocktails at the beach end of the resort. There is live music at Jimmy B's every day. This past October we actually got "stuck" at the Beachcomber for a couple extra nights because of Hurricane Sandy which proved to be just fine with us! The Beachcomber is a "laid back" resort. No bellhops waiting at the main entrance with little red hats & white gloves eager to take your bags and bucks. Suits & ties for men and semi-formal attire for women is never an issue, in fact I've never seen that! The casual and friendly atmosphere is exactly what is so appealing and why we have not pursued any other hotel on the beach!

We have been staying at the Beachcomber for the last 3 years. We brought our daughter, son in law, and 2 grandkids to spend 3 days at Christmas. Although the weather was terrible, we had a great time. Lots of things to do. Clean rooms, 2 pools, 2 bars/restaurants. Although we only live a hour and half away, the Beachcomber is definately our go to hotel at the beach.

I stayed here for 6 nights in December and I was very pleased. Great location on the beach, but also walking distance to a lot of things, very friendly staff, hotel is very clean. Includes 2 swimming pools, 2 bars/restaurants, and a great courtyard with a nice fountain and very nice landscaping. I will definately stay here again and recommend to anyone.
