“Comfortable and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

This property is a bit older, but the efficient staff and modern appointments make up for the older building. The rooms are very clean. I was surprised by the continental breakfast. Pool area is very nice. Convenient access to beach and area restaurants. We will definitely stay here again.

I've stayed at this hotel a lot over the last few years. The rooms aren't the greatest but we like the place. I just returned from there with nothing but issues, so many issues I'll never return. You can only have one car (which they never told us) you have to pay $30 a vehicle for any addt'l car. Huge issues over what you can or can't have at the pool. Depending on who you speak will depend on what rules are being enforced. What it comes down to is the only want you to purchase all beverages and food from them and they will make you life miserable until you do. Then god forbid you want to walk to the beach while Jimmy B is busy cause you can't return to your OWN room with what you went through with. They would not allow me to return to my room with the drink I originally went to the beach with. I did not want to stay at Jimmy B, I just wanted to go to my damn room.

, General Manager at Beachcomber Beach Resort & Hotel, responded to this review, July 11, 2012
The Beachcomber Beach Resort Hotel is dedicated in providing five star customer service and quality accommodations to every guest. We do guarantee one parking spot, at No Charge, for every guest room. We do also provide additional parking for guests that have multiple vehicles in our auxiliary parking lot for a nominal fee. We are required to do this to ensure we have sufficient parking for each room rented to our hotel guests. The hotel does permit our hotel guests to have their own food and beverage at our swimming pools, as long as the items are not in glass. This is for the safety of our hotel guests.

I apologize that this guest was not happy with the various hotel policies that we have in place. Our policies are in place to make certain every guest will be able to enjoy their stay with us at the Beachcomber Beach Resort.

Sincerely,

Donna Jollimore
General Manager

Wonderful soft sand, friendly service, plenty of beautiful shells, and calm and clear water. Air conditioning is ice cold, rooms are simple but clean, garden area in central courtyard is nice and quiet. We stayed in a room near the lobby, which was further away from the pool and the bar, and made it nice and quiet at night. The beach is right out the back of the hotel, with cabanas for rent or bring your own blanket/chairs. This area of the beach is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the Tradewinds Hotel beach activities further south. There is a 7-11 across the street for small purchases and ice cream (Larry's was yummy) and restaurants (Snappers was good but a little pricey) within walking distance. Room for improvement: mattresses are soft and could use replacing and curtains for windows could use modifications to block out all the exterior light. Overall it was a good value and we would come back.

Room Tip: Rooms near lobby are quieter than ones by the pool or bar.

The rooms were poor, beds were extremely uncomfortable. Location was nice. The shower water was cold and wouldn't turn hot. The restaurant by the beach was good. Would rather stay at the Trade Winds next door. Bar was kind of scary. Won't stay their again. There is a nice beach though. A/C was loud.

My room was next to the bar, Jimmy B's and it was extremely loud. They play music 7 nights a week until 2 a.m. I'm three months pregnant and tried to change my room several times, but they wouldn't allow it. I wanted a nice, relaxing weekend, but instead there were tons of people screaming, yelling and partying all night. The room was disguisting and had tons of bugs all over the bed. My advice spend some more and stay at Trade Winds. This place is a dump!

At first, it looks like a run down old hotel trying to stay afloat next to two massive, remodeled hotels, which it is. Once entering the doors, you forget about what the outside looks like and lobby is really nice, with computers for your use, concierge and the grounds were really beautiful. The room was more spacious than the other hotel we stayed at next door and with a full kitchen (full size fridge, oven/range, microwave etc), walk in closet that was not short on space and an actual bathroom that did not feel like a airplanes restroom, it was a great place to stay. The rooms are obviously old, like from the 70's due to the wiring and paint, but my picky wife who likes the "yuppie hotels" was more pleased with this than our next hotel. There were two pools that were fenced in for little ones not to run in, with rafts and kiddie floats, a live music bar with decent food was there. Parking was rough, very limited and a decent walk from start to finish if your wanting easy access to the beach.

Stay during the weekday specials Sun-Thurs for $99 ($110 with tax) but the weekend was too pricy for us to stay, so we checked out ($169nite)

Room Tip: Rooms closest to the beach have a "one way" in parking lot, it is a tight squeeze (imagine...

Spent my birthday here on our Florida road trip and it was one of the best birthdays ever. The rooms are okay but the location is awesome and its just a really fun hotel to stay at. Loved the pools. We were there on a weekend and the place was really lively with live bands playing at the beach bar. At first i had intended to stay at the postcard inn next door, but the beach comber was much cheaper and i did not regret my choice. You can still have dinner at TPI's bbq restaurant which is pretty awesome. Will return to this place on my next Florida trip!
