I ate at the Oyster Shucker on Monday, November 19th. I picked the place by chance, after leaving Philthy Phil's without eating because they were not interested in giving a single diner a dining room seat with a view, despite being only about 1/3 full (when I showed up and after I finished dinner at Oyter Shucker--I checked on my way back to the car).
As it turned out, this was my good fortune. I was greeted warmly by the hostess at Oyster Shucker, who made me feel welcome and took me to a very nice table on the window wall. My waitress, Nicole, was cordial and efficient. I ordered a split of Freixnet and had the boiled Maine lobster special. The salad was crisp and inviting and the fried okra was tasty. The lobster was quite fresh and good, and it was a pleasant change from the plethora of fried food being offered in many of the restaurants in the area. Service was attentive and efficient. The bill was about $16 for the lobster, $5 for the cava, and I left Nicole an $8 tip, happy to have had a good meal in a place that welcomes single diners.
