I ate at the Oyster Shucker on Monday, November 19th. I picked the place by chance, after leaving Philthy Phil's without eating because they were not interested in giving a single diner a dining room seat with a view, despite being only about 1/3 full (when I showed up and after I finished dinner at Oyter Shucker--I checked on my way back to the car).

As it turned out, this was my good fortune. I was greeted warmly by the hostess at Oyster Shucker, who made me feel welcome and took me to a very nice table on the window wall. My waitress, Nicole, was cordial and efficient. I ordered a split of Freixnet and had the boiled Maine lobster special. The salad was crisp and inviting and the fried okra was tasty. The lobster was quite fresh and good, and it was a pleasant change from the plethora of fried food being offered in many of the restaurants in the area. Service was attentive and efficient. The bill was about $16 for the lobster, $5 for the cava, and I left Nicole an $8 tip, happy to have had a good meal in a place that welcomes single diners.

The food at Oyster Shucker is fantastic, I have relatives that come from out of town and want to eat dinner at Oyster Shucker then listen to music at Woody's across the street. It's almost a ritual.
Coquilles St Jacques scallops are divine, and the lobster & shrimp pasta is the best anywhere! Go back and try it again, it's worth it.

If I could give them less than 1, I would. On a recent trip to Florida, we decided to eat there. What a mistake! The hostess was rude when telling us where we had to sit, and the waitstaff seemed as though we were doing them a favor by eating there. We got up and left before even placing a drink order (which took about 15 minutes before the waitress even came to the table to take the order). They weren't even busy, there were empty tables everywhere. If this is what their service is like when it's the off season, I can't imagine anyone going there during the tourist season. Skip this one, there are plenty of outstanding choices around, where customer service means something.

I had friends and family visiting from the Midwest, and we decided to have dinner at Oyster Shuckers Restaurant on St Pete Beach. Since there were nine of us, I called that afternoon and made a reservation. I requested outdoor tables, and they said they would try to accommodate us. Since we are in our slow season, I didn’t expect this to be a problem.

When we got there, we were informed that we could not sit outside; there was no room, even though we were the only names on the reservation list. When we asked if we could wait, we were told “it would be a while”. After asking twice how long “a while” was, we were informed it would be at least an hour wait. We said that we did request this when we made the reservation.

This is when things got ugly on their part. The hostess got a bit flustered, an older woman (I guess the owner?) came over to us, and told us they would not serve us, to get out of her restaurant, and if we didn’t leave she would call the police!! I can assure you that at no time did we raise our voices or get aggressive with them, and I’m sure the 2 young children and their 80 year old grandfather who were with us would agree with that. So, we left, and decided to go across the street to Woody’s. There, we were met at the door by the owner, with two large men behind him. We were very rudely informed that we were not welcome there, they own all of the restaurants on the beach and we were not to come back!! As we gathered on the sidewalk to decide what to do next, they stood there and watched us, maybe they thought we were going to call in backups and storm his restaurant! We decided to go to Madfish Grill, but they did not have any tables. However, they did call their sister restaurant Snappers, where they reserved a table for us and we proceeded to have a lovely dinner, with excellent service in a very nice atmosphere.

We were in St Pete Beach first week of February.
The Oyster Shucker was our favorite place.
We ate there twice. We found the prices very reasonable. The food, drinks and dessert were excellent.
The servers were very efficient both times. It's a friendly place. Can't wait to go back.
We would highly recommend it.
