“Memorable Time at Sabal Palm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Alex and I have been staying at Sabal Palms for at least 15 years. We stayed during the 4th of July and went back Labor Day weekend of this year. We learned about the quarterly 8th Ave street party through a local beach paper called "Beach Life" and knew we wouldn't miss the next one that just happened Oct. 13th. We made reservations at Sabal so we wouldn't have to drive back to Tampa and rented unit #10 downstairs which we hadn't seen since they re-did all the bottom floor rooms. We were so pleased not only with the size of the unit for the cost, but were thrilled with the new cabinets, carpet and appliances. There were two TV's and the one we used was wall mounted and had excellent reception. We loved being on the patio where the pool is and ate our meals poolside with piped in music. It was such an enjoyable stay and the street party was awsome. We love Pass a Grille and Sabal Palms. It makes our world worth living knowing that we can go back to paradise whenever possible. The rooms are cleaned daily and anything we need is a phone call away. The staff bends over backward to make your stay the best you can ever hope for. Sabal Palms ROCKS!

Room Tip: We love every room we've stayed in, but usually book Apt. 3 in front.

My wife and I have spent severall stays at Sabal Palms Inn and we are actually there. Why do we continue to book there? Simply because it is a quiet, safe and very clean place. Never in 15 years, we have seen dirty towels or sheets or fridge or sink as stated by a precedent reviewer.
All the staff: Judith, Emilio,Anna and Eddy are friendly but more, they are devoted to make our stay pleasant.
The property is not recent but the owner takes it neat and clean including the pool.
The wi fi connection is very efficient , this is very important for us,we can communicate easily with our children and grandchildren.
The location, very close to the sea is exceptional.
We are sure that we will have a quiet and pleasant stay as we use to. We already intend to come back next year.

My husband and I came to Florida with his mother and we booked a one bedroom with a futon in the living room.

We arrived late in the evening and were told that our room was unlocked with the keys inside. That was a little unsettling.

The room was half underground and I'd estimate the ceiling height at max 6'6" (I hit my hands on the ceiling every time I changed a shirt), which when combined with the overall smallness of the room was rather disconcerting.

The room was also extremely damp and smelled moldy/musty. The weather was perfect, not humid at all and no rain during our stay, so I don't know why the room was so damp. I wore flip flops at all times because the carpet felt so gross. There was a window AC blowing ice cold musty smelling air. No fan in the bathroom so the bathroom and whole room got hot and steamy with every shower (maybe this is the cause of the overall dampness in the room?).

The room was dirty and not kept up - dirty fridge, dirty sink, dirty shower curtain, towel bar coming off the wall, rust on anything metal and the surrounding areas, blood stains on comforter, and unidentified stains on sheets. The toilet didn't flush correctly. The futon is not meant to be slept on (or sat on for that matter), it is rock hard with hard slats.

My mother in law asked if we could change rooms and were told there was nothing else available. We ended up booking a room at the La Quinta for the second half of our stay, as we would rather pay for two hotel rooms than stay there two more nights. I don't think I have crazy high standards, I just want a room that is clean and dry.

On a positive note, the location in St. Pete's beach is nice - there are local restaurants and shops within walking distance and the beach is across the street. You cannot see the beach from the hotel, but it is super close. They also have a small parking lot and street parking passes for free. The staff was friendly.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 10. My guess is that some rooms are newer/nicer/cleaner than others since th...

Sabal Palms Inn is very proud to be the recipient of the Superior Small Lodging Association's White Glove Award for cleanliness several years in a row. This year we were given a 100% rating on cleanliness. In the last 45 days the apartment that you stayed in was given new paint, new carpet, new range oven, new flooring in the kitchen and the bathroom, new flat screen tv, new furniture and new futon. Perhaps the smell you refer to was of new. Your mother in law who stayed with you was complimentary of the accommodations and stayed an additional 3 nights.

We weren't sure of what to expect but. . . . what a great time we had!!! Sabal Palms was quaint, clean and perfectly situated for walking to excellent restaurants in the area!!!! Wonderful view of the gulf!!! Everyone was very friendly which added to the perfecton of our vacation. Housekeepers, Judy and her husband made us feel like we were part of the family. They almost anticipated our needs. We will definitely return!!! Steve and Ramona Nelson

Room Tip: Room 1 was large and had a great front porch!!!

This was our second stay at Sabal Palms. We live an hour away and this has turned out to be great place for a weekend getaway! The room was cozy and clean, the kitchen was nicely equipped and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had relatives also staying in the area and we enjoyed a nice cookout on the gas grill and ate outside at one of the picnic tables enjoying the breeze off the gulf. The jacuzzi pool area is relaxing after a day at the beach, which is right across the street. We also enjoyed being able to use the bicycles provided whenever we wanted to take a ride around the area. We never had to use our car at all. We'll definatley be back again.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms are better since the downstairs rooms have very low celings.

We recently stayed for a few days at the Sabal Palms on PassAGrille beach and we were very pleased with our service and accomodations! If you are expecting clean, good service, relaxing environment and close to area attractions, then you will love staying here! Yudit and Eddie were both very helpful on the phone and in person~we really enjoyed the bikes and beach chairs available to us and the view from our room was spectacular!! Can't wait to go again soon!!!

Room Tip: Room number two is right down the front steps and looks out onto the beach!!!

The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and quiet, as was the entire property. It was a tight fit in the kitchen but we managed to prepare excellent meals. The Weber gas grill in the common patio area was very useful in creating another great meal. It was just a walk across the street to get to the beach and the Inn provided collapsible beach chairs you could take with. The mini-pool with jacuzzi jets was pleasant to use in the evenings. Although we did not get a chance to use the bicycles provided by the Inn, it was nice to have them available. A variety of restaurants and stores are within a 10-minute drive or walk and we also enjoyed this convenience.

There is no doubt that we will be back next year for a longer stay. The whole point of this trip was to enjoy a relaxed and quiet atmosphere...we were not disappointed.
