“Best staff, great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Just got back from a week at Guy Harvey Outpost. To a person, the staff members we encountered were friendly, helpful and really seemed to be happy to serve us. The one bedroom suite was great, and even though we had a garden view, our view included a beautiful garden/courtyard and the beach. The pool was great for our kids (13 and 8) and the beach was beautiful. It was really good having a kitchen in the room, and we used it for almost every breakfast and a couple of lunches, which saved us a lot of $$ because dining on St Pete Beach isn't particularly cheap. We spent several hours one day over at the Tradewinds using their facilities, including ping pong, paddle boating and mini-golf and that was handy and fun, but I still prefer the atmosphere of Guy Harvey. The water slide was a total blast, for the kids and for my husband and me (in our late 40s). We would go back to this resort in a heartbeat.

We stayed here for a week and thought it was excellent. We would go back. The staff is great. The hotel has been around a while but has been updated and we thought it was fine. We had one of the gulf view rooms on the 4th floor. Small bedroom with 2 double beds, a kitchen with full size fridge, stove, sink, coffee maker. Nice living room with sliding doors overlooking the beach.
Free drinks every night at the pool bar. Nice restaurant - we just had lunch there. Starbucks coffeee in the lobby. Close to everything. Free parking. Awesome beach with cabanas.
The "sister" hotel just down the beach has even more amenities, such as paddle boats. You can use anything down there from the Outpost.
This is just right for a Florida vacation. We talked to a lot of people who return year after year.

Room Tip: Get one of the gulf view rooms

I had a great experience staying at the Guy Harvey Resort. The staff was welcoming and the rooms were clean.

We had easy access to the beach, with no trouble getting one of the lounge chairs.

I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Guy Harvey Resort for an anniversary weekend. It was the most relaxing weekend--everything was perfect. The room was beautiful and very clean. We had a view of the beach. Relaxing on the hammocks on the beach was wonderful and sitting in the cabanas in the morning reading the newspaper was the awesome, too. It couldn't have been a better weekend. We are already planning our next trip there this summer.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view of the beach are the best. It was a little noisy to have the door open at time...

Awesome Resort! Very clean and updated. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. When we first checked in we had a minor issue but, Angela resolved this way above our expectations. I love that their are many things for the kids to do as well as an adult only pool area for those who do not have children traveling with them. The location is perfect. You can get to almost anything in 20minutes. There is a nice outlet mall in Ellenton and plenty of restraunts in any dorection from the resort. I cannot say enough good things about this resort.

Took a 3-night escape from the snowy North with my wife and we weren't disappointed. A lovely small resort, with lots of cool Guy Harvey paintings on every wall. The separate living room suite was very nice, and the mini-kitchen was well-appointed for those who want to do a little dinner cooking. The smallness is balanced by the big TradWinds resort an 8-minute walk away, with a full fitness center, paddle boats, and very cool 4-story water slide. Minor quibbles: most of rooms have two double beds (instead of queens or kings), my wife noted a musty smell in the room (I didn't think it was much), and the fitness center is pretty lame (one eliptical, two treadmills, and a universal (the big TradeWinds fitness is close and great). We're definitely heading back next year.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are very nice!
