My family and I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a balcony room and were able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the calm sounds from the ocean. The ocean was so close- it was amazing! They have a pool that we were able to enjoy when we couldn't handle the salt water anymore! : )
We were close to everything you could want. We even went to see the dolphins with Dolphin Landings. This is a wonderful experience.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Vicky was the housekeeper. She was incredible! She was so loving to our children and made up the pull out the bed for them to sleep on, since the balcony room only has a king size bed.
I have only one complaint. Since we were upstairs, apparently the people below could hear/feel a lot. We had just gotten back into our room from being outside all day and received a call asking if we were dancing in our room, because it was shaking the ceiling fan downstairs! We were only walking around. I felt like we were walking on eggshells the rest of the trip. If you are bringing young children with you, I would suggest staying on the lower level.
If the opportunity arises, we would definitely stay here again.

Came down with my 12 yr old daughter for a few days to relax and to visit my friend who lives in Largo. The Plaza Beach Resort was a nice small two story clean motel with beautiful nooks for seating areas and garden touches. Our accomodations included a King Bed (very comfortable), kitchenette and seating area, adequate storage for clothing, etc and a small bathroom with tub - shower. (bathrooms are efficient but may need some updating soon). Felt very spacious. It is a nice "mom and pop" place with friendly and helpful owners and employees (Robert, Rose and a few others I met made our trip wonderful). I prefer these places over the high rise hotels with the longest walk ever to pool and beach areas LOL. This place has a nice pool, BBQ area, shuffle board, life size chess game, and many areas to sit and relax and have a beverage. The beach is directly in front of the pool - a very short walk. Beautiful ! Across the street within walking distance are Walgreen's, Mobil gas station (with Dairy Queen inside), a bit further down is the plaza with Publix, CVS, liquor store, some shops and the Blue Fugu Japanese Restaurant (it is on the very far right in the plaza on 2nd floor). They have an early bird special (4pm to 6pm) for $15 pp for the Teppenyaki-Hibachi dinner. Well worth it and delicious ! I also sampled their sushimi and it was delicious and beautifully prepared. I had to take a picture LOL. If you are looking for clean, comfortable, relaxing place to stay with your family for a very modest price - this is THE place to stay. I met SEVERAL families and couples who have been coming to this place for many many years. It is nice to hear ! We will definitely be back with my whole family next time !

My husband and I had a room with a balcony. Great sunsets and the staff was very nice. We had a late flight out and was waiting for our taxi and the staff gave us access to the break room so we would have a more comfortable wait. The only negative thing about the trip was the shuttle. You had to wait 30 minutes to an hour at the stop, because unless you were standing directly at the stop it would pass you by! And the worse part was at night the driver would pull over right when you got on and take breaks up to 30 minutes. Very frustrating when you are ready to get home. I would definitely stay at the Plaza again but would rent a car.

Me, my boyfriend and our kids are from Lakeland Fl, went to St Pete for the day, but decided to stay the night! We searhced over an hour driving from place to place...some very unpleasant people we encountered at other hotels, because we had 3 children they didn't want us to stay, finally someone from another hotel, can't remember the name, but she was extremly helpful called over to the plaza beach resort and told them our dilemma and our budget!! They had a room and said to come on over. When we arrived there, the front desk clerk was so nice and helpful, I'm glad everyone turned us down so that we had a chance to stay there!! It was great, close to the beach, rooms were nice and clean, plenty of things for the children to do, and the staff was great.....I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will be back......Great Job and thanks for a great nights stay!!!
