“First Time To St.Pete”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

This was my first time to this hotel, and found it to be a very nice place to stay. The staff were very helpful especially Danny who was the concierge. The room was very clean, and had a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, blow dryer, iron, and flat screen TV with DVD player. The two restaurants had very good food, and what I realy liked is that one opened at 6:30am to serve breakfast.Bongos the beach bar was a great place to chill out listen to some live music, and have some great food and drinks.I did not have time to use the white sand beach, but it looked very nice with plenty of room to toss a football or frisbee.I wish I was able to have a longer stay, but not this time.

Room Tip: From what I was able to see I think most all the rooms have a great view.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful with any questions I had. Room was very clean, bedding was excellent, all room amenities were working. Never had to call for any additional items in our room. I already have a trip planned next month to return with friends. We loved the Bongo's Lounge. It was cozy on cool March nights in Florida. Music was entertaining with different performers each night. Food was excellent at Bongos.

Room Tip: Had a great dinner at Snappers a short distance away.

We were pleasantly surprised to be bumped to a 9th floor suite on our arrival. We liked it so much we asked to stay a few more nights and they honoured the same price for us. Our room over looked all of the powdery white sand beach and blue water. We had 2 balconies, an eating area and a huge bedroom. I coulda lived in this place :-)
The quirky red head at the front desk kept us laughing ( or the best I could with no voice).
There was ample parking, no resort fees, a room safe, 2 TV's, and really comfortable bed.
One elevator was down for a couple of days causing a pain in the [--]. If the room had nice carpeting instead of tile it would really kick it up a notch.
MY pet peeve is plastic dixie cups instead of glass wine and cocktail glasses in the room. A room of this caliber is depreciated with crappy disposable cups. It is really hard to enjoy a nice 18 year old single malt out of a dixie cup!

We stayed here just this past week for a girls getaway. We loved this hotel from the second we walked in. We were greeted by Chris at the front desk, who was very nice and informative. We stayed in room 707, and paid for a bay view room. But when we got up to our room, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had a bay view AND ocean view! So excited. We initially thought, "Uh oh, something got screwed up, we only have one bed." But after a 6 hour flight and little sleep, we finally figured out that it was a murphy bed! The beds were very comfortable, and our room was right over Bongo's Beach Bar, and we had no problems with any noise coming from the bar! Linda and Basilio at Bongos were awesome, very friendly and warm, and Linda calling us her "girls." It was overall just such a wonderful experience, and we are already planning our return!

We booked our room for an early March visit. Our first room, 614, had a lovely beach view and was sunny and bright, not very large but comfortable with a fridge and microwave and coffee maker. The problem came when the live music from Bongos below us began at 2 PM....and didn't end until 10:30. Even having the AC on didn't drown out the music and we wanted a peaceful sunset drink on our balcony...wasn't gonna happen. The following day we asked to change rooms, and were readily accommodated by a move to 916... a little darker because of the overhanging ballroom balcony above us but still beachfront with great views and definitely a quieter room....until late night Saturday when a wedding reception was held in the Ballroom above us. We heard thumping and furniture moving well past midnight. We finally called the front desk and they halted the furniture rearranging until the next day.
I would return...but I 'd stay in a North side upper floor beachfront room (16 or 17, 5th through 8th floors) to avoid unwanted noise.

Room Tip: 5th through 8th floor, 16 or 17 to have a quiet ocean front room....amazing sunset and beach views.

Even though they advertise "Accommodations offer city, partial ocean, or pool views.", this is not exactly true (plus, when I looked at this hotel on line and again in their lobby when printing my boarding passes, the web said all rooms have gulf view). The room we had was on the second floor. We had no view. Our balcony had a +5' concrete wall. I mentioned this when we checked out. He said he would check this out immediately. I have to admit I was disappointed w/our view. After asking housekeeping to clean three different areas, the remaining stay was spotless and enjoyable.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a gulf view, if that is what you want.

We will stay there again, they gave us the wrong when we checked in they gave us partial ocean view when we booked full ocean view, but they switched us the next day. Only other complain is parking so many people come for the resturant and the actual guests have to find a place to park they should have a different place for non guests to park. Overall great experience.
