Had a great stay. Location, room, service and all the personnel were fabulous. We dined at Spinners restaurant on the top of the hotel, which slowly revolves, and had the most delicious food. Excellent menu and hats off to the chef and again, great service and wait staff.
Hotel is older but with the great service, location, cleanness and price, it was great. One other restaurant on property is Bongo's on the beach attached to the restaurant. Nice to sit there and eat and enjoy the beach at the same time.

We just got married at the Grand Plaza on 12/31/12 and it was AMAZING! Katie S. was our wedding coordinator and she was so helpful and genuinely nice. We looked at so many hotels/resorts/venues to have our wedding at and decided on the Grand Plaza for several reasons.

One reason is the location! It overlooks the beautiful Gulf and has a pool that looks over the beach as well. Seriously beautiful and the sunsets there-beyond gorgeous!

Another reason was because of how friendly and helpful the staff was. When we first visited the Grand Plaza to meet with Katie, the front desk staff was so nice and excited that we were getting married on New Year's Eve. More than a year later when we actually got married at the GP, the front desk staff was still just as nice and helpful.

Another big the reason why we chose the GP is because they honestly know how to coordinate a wedding. Katie had everything down to a science. At our wedding rehearsal, she told everyone exactly where they would be, at what time to be there and the details of the entire wedding night. The bartenders/wait staff that served during our reception were friendly and super efficient. They had dishes removed promptly and kept the water glasses filled.

Perhaps the icing on the cake, and the top reason we chose the GP was because they let us decorate our ceremony AND reception venue however we wanted. Many of the other venues we looked at had so many rules about not bringing outside decorations or not using tape to hang things or not allowing confetti on the tables etc. Being that we got married on NYE, naturally we wanted to decorate the reception ballroom in NYE style.

Also, since our actual ceremony was at night, the staff helped us to make sure the site had enough light for the photographers and even brought out tiki torches to line the walkway. We are so thankful for that!

I would recommend the Grand Plaza to anyone who wants to get married at a beautiful location with extremely friendly and helpful staff!

Vacationers from the UK on our third stay & greeted like old friends, a real pleasure to stay at the Plaza again. Nice candlelit atmosphere in the revolving restraurant, stunning views, top class food & service. Good buffet choice in the breakfast room with food & drinks available right on the beach or pool all day & evening. Good size basic rooms with everything you need provided, good value for money with no hidden extras.

We just returned from a week in St. Pete, staying in this hotel, and decided to post this review of our experience.

Hotel in General: While I will agree with most people who say that the rooms are in need in renovation, we found it acceptable for the rates. The front desk staff is extremely friendly, especially Julie. She was incredibly helpful to us and I wish to express our sincerest thanks to her! The lobby of the hotel is very nice and the outside of the hotel is very clean. The pool deck area is beautiful and is a great place to catch a tan (yes, in January) and have a few cocktails. The room we stayed in had a balcony overlooking St. Pete (not the Gulf side), but the view was very nice.

Spinners Restaurant: While looking a little outdated, it is very nice and clean. We had dinner there twice and had one of the best steaks I've ever had. The service here was great (thanks Carla!), even offering to box up our leftovers and send us to the room with the rest of our dinner, plus silverware and extra bread sticks. Talk about a great midnight snack!

Bongos Bar: My wife and I spent quite a bit of time here. The bar stools are a touch short for the height of the bar, but food there is great! Mixed/frozen drinks there are a touch expensive also, on the order of $8.00 each, but the beer prices are what I would consider normal. As for the staff, well, what can I say? They are all great! Our last day at the hotel we spent with Jason, Suzie, and George. Let me tell you, get these any 2 or 3 of these guys together behind the bar and you'll have a great time! I cannot express enough how fun, entertaining, and attentive they are!! Truly an asset to this hotel.

Overall, we had a great time during our stay here and would highly recommend it. No hotel is perfect, but for the price, the Grand Plaza was well worth it!
