The reason we call this "an unexpected find" is that after driving through a fairly remote part of the upper West Coast and just into the Panhandle of Florida, and finding St. Marks to be a VERY small town, we would not really have expected to find lodging, especially such a wonderful b&b! We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon in time to hear the owner, Andy, and another musician playing and singing blues/jazz in the lobby, while listeners (some inn guests, some locals) sipped wine or sangria OR had the choice of three dinner items prepared by co-owner and Andy's wife, Denise. Denise also provided complimentary wine and cheese for us upon arrival. She is an incredibly versatile and attentive innkeeper. I was in awe of her energy and she was so good-natured despite all the hats she was wearing that afternoon! The music was really good and the guys were obviously enjoying entertaining us. Our room, upstairs on the back side of the house was huge, very nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. The bathroom was spacious with good countertop space and had a jacuzzi tub and separate shower room. We were on a long road trip and the draw to St. Marks for us was the biking trail that goes to Tallahassee. Unfortunately, weather did not cooperate for us to do that, so we moved on the next morning. We highly recommend a stop at St. Marks and this b&b if you find yourself in that area!
