We stayed at the St. George Inn in mid July 09' . It has three levels, we stayed on the first level in the Magnolia room. The room was average size with a dresser, armoire, chest-of-drawers and two night stands. It also had a frige, microwave and 19' tv with cable. It had a firm, but comfortable king size bed. The AC worked great . The bathroom was adequate, but on the small side with a full tub shower along with a single vanity.
The hotel in general has a bed and breakfast feel. The staff is very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Most rooms also have a french door to the full wrap around porch as well as an interior door. The first floor has all hardwood floors and 12' + ceilings in the rooms and halls. The outside of the inn could use minor paint & improvements, but blends in well with St. George island and has a "home like" feel.
The inn features a common area with comfortable seating, complementary computer with internet for guests and a larger tv. The hotel also has wifi internet access (we picked up five wifi hotspots from our room). Pets are welcome at the inn, we brought our golden and aussie, they met many friendly dogs on the island. Most restaurants and business will allow dogs inside or outside on deck tables.
I would definitely stay at this Inn in the future, if I stayed under a week. If I stay for a week or more, I would consider an island home rental. I would much recommend this inn over other hotels on the island. This hotel is located approx 2 small blocks from the beach and is a very easy walk with kids or animals.
