The title says it all. The experience you get here is rare among the rest of the restaurants on the island. We have been coming to the island for vacation for many years and this is the first time we've eaten here.
The interior of the dining area was clean, updated and well kept. We had a party of 9 and were seated immediately by a surprisingly friendly server. It seems that most of the places on the island and Apalachicola would rather not have the business of tourists so they tend to be extremely rude and provide poor service. But not this place. We were treated like family.
Our server quickly took our drink orders while politely asking how the bills would be split. We all placed our meal orders and were checked on often for refills. The restaurant was out of oysters but due to no fault of their own. The heavy rains the previous week had closed the bay. No fishing means no oysters around here. If any other restaurants had oysters, they weren't going to be fresh.
Our food arrived in a timely manner and was presented extremely well. While most seafood joints in the area would simply throw your meal in a cheap paper-covered basket, The Beach Pit carefully placed our food on nice plates and nearly made an art out of it. I ordered the shrimp scampi which was very tasty. The noodles were cooked perfectly, not too soggy, not too tough. The shrimp was loaded with taste. The portion size was more than enough to fill me up (and I'm a big eater).
The server really made us feel welcome, checked on us often and made sure we were provided with the correct food we ordered. The food was delicious and was well worth the money we spent. We all arrived expected to be price-gouged just like every other place on the island but were pleasantly surprised to see that prices were very fair.
We will definitely eat here again next year.
