“Fantastic - don't miss this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2010

I've been to Orlando a few times so the Disney parks are getting a little repetitive and I fancied doing a swamp tour, I'm really glad I did!

The drive down is easy, (40 minutes from Lake Buena Vista for me!) just follow directions and don't rely too much on sat nav. If you're on a dead end road then ends in the water, you've got it! There's no parking issues or tourist trap; you literally park, walk onto the pontoon and you're on the boat.

The captain was fantastic; very friendly. A quick introduction, safety brief, headset info and we were off.

He asked if there was anything particular to see, and was more than happy to spend a few minutes with me cooing over the baby moorhens (coots). He was very well informed and using the headsets spent most of the trip telling me around the area and pointing out all the local wildlife.

I saw a couple of aligators as well as lots of birds, millions of dragonfly and some of the endangered species that are currently in residence on the lake. It was also nice to just zip around at speed a bit and to have guaranteed front seats made it worth the while.

There was an approaching rain cloud which decided to pour down on us and within seconds he'd pulled up and was handing me a poncho, I was very impressed!

“Personal, knowledgable, fun and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2010

Just back from a great tour with Capt Harold - just my wife and me getting plenty of great information on the local flora and fauna. We saw plenty of 'gators (including a couple of pretty big ones) as well as lots of birds, cowigators, and even some fish.
Capt Harold was super friendly, couldn't have been nicer.
The boat, intercom system and seating were great.
When we stopped the engine to get a good close look at an alligator, the peace and quiet made a very pleasant break before we got back out on the lake.
Recommended!

“Awsome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2010

My husband and I loved this tour that we took earlier this afternoon! The guide was very personable and knowledgeable of wild life in the area and on the swamp. He has a keen eye and could quickly spot an alligator. He took the time to answer all of our questions and point out interesting sights through out the tour. The boat tour originates from the municipal boat launch. There are no signs to indicate that you are in the correct location, but Debi gives very clear directions on how to get there. We would definately take this tour again, felt it was well worth the money. We like to give our business to a small local company, rather than a large commercial one.

“Fun ride with an experienced guide!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2010

My son and I had a wonderful time with Capt. Harold. Not only did he know the are really well but he also knew a lot about the wildlife, ecosystem, etc..
I thought their website was very informative about how the company works, what their expectations are and they definitely mention NO BATHROOMS on the dock!
It was a beautiful day and the trip was something we will always remember! He took a photo of us and allowed us to take one of him. Anytime you are touring a wildlife area you are at the mercy of the wildlife- sometimes you see a lot and sometimes you don't- it is of no fault of the company- we saw numerous gators, endangered birds, bald eagles, etc. Capt. Harold was very patient with my novice photography and even made attempts to get as close as safety would allow and waited until I told him I got the picture. I would highly recommend Spirit of the Swamp!!

Ive done an airboat ride before with a big company, 25 people on the boat etc, in the same area, and it doesnt even compare to this. Spirit of the Swamp is unbelievably good. I will never forget the hour we had with Capt Harold - he made sure he knew all our names, especially the kids, and if he saw one of our kids pointing he would address them and ask if there was something they especailly wanted to see. The airboat itslef is immaculate and looked brand new, Capt Harold is really smartly dressed and professional, polite and just a true gentleman. He is sooooo knowldegable about the animals, the plants, all the wildlife. I saw so many gators, one so close up I could see its eye colour!! It is altogether a more intimite, private and beautiful - no other word for it - experience than the big tours. My kids have been talking about Capt Harold since that day and they say apart from swimming with dolphins at Discovery Cove, it was the best day of the 14 days. We got loads of photos, and I could write all day about how brilliant it was.

The location is brilliant, only 20 mins from Lake Buena Vista area, very easy to find and the service for booking is polite and friendly, we arrived way to early and they accomodated us by coming down early, then he apologied for being late, and he was in fact 20 mins early! He also ran over on time and didnt even mention it, we certainly got great value. Yes, there is no loo there but a very small price to pay for such a brilliant experience. And who wants a shop and a tourist site when you have come to get away from all that?

I wouldnt go anywhere else now and would recommned these guys so highly - and they are more or less the same price as some of the big 25/30 boats. And there is no "sell", no shop, or taking your pic holding a little gator and charging you for it, in fact Capt Harold insists on taking a pic of your party with your own camera so you have a pic of you all together.

I will be going back when I go to Orlando at Christmas for definate.

We saw wild turkeys, birds, giant snails, turkeys, huge turtles, fish egg beds, and soooo many gators, a pod of baby ones and some real big uns!
