“St Augustine Hilton Garden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

I was disappointed that we were put in a room with a huge jacuzzi tub---which for 2 parents & 3 teenage boys was not appropriate....and the beds were 2 double beds instead of 2 queens that I 'require'. I switched to HiltonHonors for the reason that Hampton and Hilton have always made sure I have queen beds... this was not the case this time. I realize we were there during a very high season, but I made reservations early enough in the year that I should have had a more accommodating room. The fitness room was under construction---but that happens. :) The only other issue we had was that the 'breakfast' is WAY overpriced---even the boys thought so and did not go back on our 2nd day. It was not handled smoothly--alot of confusion as to what to do... Handled by a single person (woman) she was so over her head that she was pretty curt with people, including my 3 boys who couldnt figure out easily what the protocol was and wasnt...and they are not stupid or new travelers. Frankly, it looked like a complimentary breakfast bar that you decided to charge for because of the high volume of customers. I am disappointed in Hilton for this trip, but will give you another chance. I do want to say that your front desk staff, particularly the blond girl from Michigan, and your housekeeping staff, particularly the young man with a British/Australian accent, were some of the best I have come across!! Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that your stay with us wasn't quite what you're expected and rude staff is not acceptable. Thank you for sharing your concerns about your dining experience with us. I'm glad to hear that a few of our team members you encountered were friendly and could demonstrate our true commitment to hospitality. I hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity to serve you.

We visited last in November 2011. The rooms have been decorated since and were clean , well appointed and comfortable. The staff were polite ,helpful and friendly. What more do you want in a hotel ?! The only mild inconvenience was the resurfacing of the car parks which meant you had to look carefully for a parking space. Not a problem.

This hotel was clean, the staff was very friendly, the rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were very clean as well.

The beach was in walking distance but you can not see the beach from the hotel. It was only a few miles to get into town. Parking downtown is limited. We parked at the fort and had to circle the parking lot a bunch of times to find an open spot.

Seems like they are struggling with what could be a great breakfast time. Front desk was average and so was housekeeping. Too bad, because this property has potential. Price is too high for the quality of stay. Cookies were good but didn't last long!

Great cozy rooms lots of space. We always enjoy staying at any Hilton Gardens. Great hot breakfast bar. Nice friendly staff and clean rooms. Love that we could go to the Historial area for 3 days by trolley bus. We did not have to use our car hardly at all the whole visit.

Room Tip: Nice cozy rooms lots of space.

left the room at 11am both days only to come back at 5:30pm to a untidy room. I did complain on the 1st day and accepted their explanation and promise it wouldn't happen again, only to find that the room wasn't cleaned on the second day.

Recently travelled to St. Augustine Beach. The hotel was ok but not up to Hilton's standards. The people that work there are nice and attentive. The issues we had were several. The room was 'clean' on the surface, but our kids found several items under the beds (I know that this is a typical hotel issue). The hot tub was not working, so our children were very sad about that - as we were near a beach (too cold in the ocean), they wanted to use their bathing suits! Then we got breakfast (using points thankfully) and the service was subpar, the oatmeal was like a rock and the scrambled eggs were brown (overcooked). Every time we went to get the complimentary coffee/tea, something always needed refilling (hot water, cups, etc...). The manager and office staff were very nice about the issues, but eh... don't know if we would stay there again. The hotel is across the street from the beach, fyi... not far, but you do need to cross the street. Sunset Grill Restaurant is right next to the hotel.
