We then went to the hotel where it got even worse. It was kind of funny and went like this - I check in at 9pm and go to the room assigned only to find the cleaning crew still in there vacuuming. I go back to the front desk and the head of cleaning takes me back to the room and gets the guy out of there - I did not use my key because they let me in the room. I proceed to walk in an old and musty room. The toilet was running and would not stop and I noticed the bottom lock to the door would not engage fully. I felt weird about it but thought there was a top lock and I was tired from all the traveling. I went to click on the tv and could only get one channel which was motocross. I went back to the front desk again for the 2nd time and asked about the television and was told to physically change the channel on the tv. I had already tried this but figured I was tired and could just go to sleep. I went back to my room with my pass key and it would not work in the door. I had to return to the front desk for the 3rd time in a half hour and once had to wait for the front desk staff to deal with other people. I should add that the front lobby had bird cages with birds and dogs and it smelled but I was tired at this point. As I was standing in line for the 3rd time, I was horrified to witness the 2nd person at the front desk get on the phone to call in a credit card confirmation over the speaker phone and heard the play of someone's credit card number and expiration date out loud! When I got up there I told them about not being able to get in my room with the card they had JUST given me and stated I wanted to cancel my stay and wanted my payment information and cancellation information ASAP AND I would need to be let into my room in order to get my things as I could not get in the room. The woman who had played the unsuspecting guests information for everyone in the front lobby (by the way the WIFI system was down and there were people in the front lobby on their computers because that was the only way they could get on-line). It was awful!! I left St. Augustine at 10:30 pm and got into Tallahassee by 1 am. It was TOTALLY worth it to drive home in the rain just to be in the safety of my own bed! What a terrible place. I am trying to figure out who to report them to as I write this!
