“Worst hotel of my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Right when me and my boyfriend got to the hotel every person in the lobby was complaining about something. When we finally got to the front of the line they didn't even have our reservation in the computer. Nor did they have the reservation of the lady in front of us in line. She asked me what kind of hotel I got and I showed her 2nd floor oceanview (which is a little more eexpensive). When she gave us our room it was the 1st floor parking lot view. We went back to the front lobby and asked to get the right room, when we finally got to the right room I noticed a lot of things were very dirty. One of the beds had crumbs on it, the table still had cup rings from the last people that were in the room, and the fridge was disgusting. We also noticed that one of the lamps had a light out and no lamp shade and the other two were just dirty and had burn marks on them. Later that day our friends met up with us and we went out to eat. Our friends realized they forgot their sons diaper bag so my boyfriend and his friend went back to the hotel to get it. As his friend is in the room getting the bag a lady walks into our room. He asks her what she's doing and she says this is the room they gave me. They completely gave our room to someone else! Thank goodness he went back to the room and was there when she walked in...all our stuff was in the room and she could've taken anything she wanted! As they go to the front lobby to sort things out the ladies working there all of a sudden get an attitude and start arguing with them like the whole thing wasn't even there fault. Our friends went home that night and we hung out at the hotel. The next morning housekeeping knocks on our door and I tell them we don't want them to clean. They proceed to bang on the door and they got more housekeeping ladies and banged on the door some more, they even tried to just walk right into our room. They wont leave us alone and keep telling us that check-out was at 11 am (it was 12:30 pm). I kept telling them that we didn't leave until the next day but they wouldn't stop. Finally they stopped so me and my boyfriend got up and went to the front lobby. When we got there my boyfriend asked, angrily of course, why they were trying to kick us out of our room and they lady told him to watch his mouth. She then tried just kicking him out of the lobby. All the owner did was repeat I'm sorry 1,000 times and that's all. Saying sorry doesn't do a thing. After they didn't even have our reservations to begin with, they ended up booking our room for one night instead of three days two nights. Later that day we went to the tiki bar and got an overpriced drink that had no flavor, it was just sour. We couldn't even drink it. We went to the inside pool and hot tub only to find nasty looking water in the hot tub and dead bugs floating around in it. When we went back to the room to take showers we didn't even have any hot water. When my boyfriend went to call the front desk of course the phone in the room didn't work. After I took a cold shower we, once again, went to the looby to ask for a room with hot water and she said there's no hot water because of construction. The only construction going on there is them painting the walls. We were told by someone that's been there for three months that there hasn't been any hot water the whole time. We wanted to get our money back and goo somewhere else but they said they couldn't do that because we went through expedia and not them directly.

This hotel is just terrible. They need to update the pictures and information on their website because there is no water in the outside pool and the restaurant that they say is in the building is closed and for lease. There's not even any wifi at the hotel. The staff was always very quick to get an attitude with everyone that walked in the door instead of being level headed.

Room Tip: Go anywhere else but this hotel.

we do apologize that Expedia did not send your reservation and we had to call and ask them to send it and it was not for the correct amt of days however that is out of our control.....Our hotel does have hot water there was a day that the water was off for four hours to put in a new boiler and one hour after it was in everybody had hot water. Our indoor pool and hottub are inspected monthly and we pass with flying colors our pool guy cleans them every morning our outdoor pool does not open until mid April we have a winter just like everyone else and close our pool for that season. Our Tiki Bar prices match all of the clubs and Tiki bars in the area and Bill may have made your drink to strong if you would have let him know he would have made you a new one.

This hotel has a great spot on a fantastic beach. The hotel is really run down though. We stayed in room 105 and here is what we found; the bathroom door would not close because it would hit the toilet. There was no TV remote and we only got 1 channel of programming. We had 2 beds in the room but there was only 1 pillow for each bed. The front door looked like it had been kicked down a time or two and had to be really shoved and pulled hard to open and close it, plus it looked like someone had spilled something all over the inside of it. Wifi was nonexistent. There were light bulbs burned out in the room. The outdoor pool and water slide were closed. The indoor pool area has "No Smoking" signs posted all over but there were cigarette butts everywhere.

Only stay here if you are only looking for a spot to stash your stuff while you hit the beach.

I am sorry that you did not have a remote the front desk would have been more than happy to have taken care of your room needs we have remote's and pillows our comcast tv's have to be set on channel 3 or 4 and then you will have all of the channels. We appologize abuot the butts around the pool area however we can't control everybody and we do have fines for them when we catch them.

Made reservation on website. Arrived at the resort and was surprised that the pictures on the website were taken many years ago or had a major touchup with photoshop. Checked in and went to our room. Room out of the 60's and last cleaned shortly after. Office area smelled from animals. Door lock broken and room smelled. Could not spend the night at this place. Left and went to a real hotel. They have not refunded my money, they seem to really need it more that I do. Should have known better. Be very aware before you stay here.

Room Tip: Best recommendation, stay somewhere else.

We do have hot water, we do not advertise the indoor pool as heated . the outdoor pool is open in April. The hot tub is awesome and does require chlorine by law. The inernet pictures are in no way , shape, or form altered We have always and continue to pass all health and safety inspections!! Thank you!

We have stayed here for 3 years now, and like the suites. We took a friend with us this year who said that it looked good and we told her to just wait. Sure enough, the next morning we awoke to jack hammering. It turned out that the entire second story veranda was being torn up and re-concreted, a project which continued every day for the duration of our stay. We were lucky, we talked to the concrete guys and they left us a dry space to get to our room, while others had to be out of theirs all day until it dried.
At least this year, the phone worked, the TV worked, the shower head did not need replacing and the key card worked most of the time. So we were happy about that.
When we complained to the owner about the wet concrete on our floor, she told us it had to be done to make it safe before spring break, and that maybe she could give us another room, until the concrete dried. She knew we couldn't complain too much because the room was so cheap for being right on the beach.
This is a place you love to hate, We keep going back and so do the other people who return every year. As one person said "there is never a dull moment here" while he was admiring the (presumably temporary) lawn ornament in the yard which was a toilet.
All and all we do like it there and will return to see what happens next. This hotel's saving grace is its unparalleled location. The dramas and foibles become part of the fabric of one's stay here, a situation calling forth frustration and/or humor depending on guest expectations and thickness of skin. As part of the on-going battle against the aging facility and sea air, the exterior was also getting fresh paint, although the choice of deep orange and black (supposedly a dark green?) will, I'm sure, result in a year round playground for the ghosts and goblins of Anastasia Island. Ah, the ambiance!!
My kudos to Renee who was still there and seems to care even if she doesn't!

Room Tip: The second floor beach side has the best view. In the winter months when we go, the North side of t...

I was there in October 2012. The front desk was kind and other staff. I was given an "upgraded room" that was recently renovated. The labor quality was poor and it looked like a "home done" job. The ceiling fan was about too fall out. The coffee pot did not work. The furniture was dirty and worn. It seemed that several rooms were rented to long term occupants living there. The location was great on the beach; it was such a shame that the place is so so run down and full of cock roaches....not "palmetto bugs."

Room Tip: I could see the beach from the second floor.

Does not meet minimal cleanliness expectations. We kept a good attitude about the hotel even though the reviews were terrible. After having to wait 2 hours in the evening to get enough towels for all of us to shower with, we finally were able to go to bed. I found a toe nail in the bottom of the bed, it was not stuck or anything just laying there. There is no way the sheets were washed! There were also stains and debris on the floor and curtains; and the refrigerator was not usable because it was so nasty. I would not even put canned drinks in it. We also didn't have a view of the ocean after we paid extra to have a view. This place is bad and they don't deliver what they advertise!

Room Tip: second floors have an ocean view because then you can see over the pool area

I will let you know our sheets are washed and cleaned after every customer. Im sorry that you feel differently. We tend to sell out every weekend and we are working on the towel shortage. Thank you for taking the time to give us your opinions.
