“To die for Coconut Shrimp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Stopped in for lunch and we were not disappointed. We were seated immediately inside as there was a wait for the outside seating. Out side looked like the place to be as it was a beautiful day, but the inside was comfortable. Our server Denise was pleasant and talked up the coconut shrimp and she was right, they are great. Both of us had the shrimp with choice of two sides. There were 5 good size shrimp that were butterflied and a very light batter. The shrimp and the orange marmalede were the best we've had in some time. The sides..fruit, cole slaw, fries were average. We would definitely have the shimp again. The other menu items looked appealing based on those around us. We'll be back.

“Good Service, Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This place is located in a beach resort type area where locals and visitors come in. It was a pretty lively crowd. You can eat inside the restaurant, in the bar or sit outside. We came during happy hour where the house wine was $3.50, the beers pretty reasonable too. They had two for one appetizers (which they had a very nice selection) but ONLY if you eat in the bar area. We decided to order entrees which were excellent. We had the Shrimp with the creamy type sauce and we had the grilled shrimp which were excellent. There were two skewers of shrimp and they were a very nice size. You can get the fish grilled, sauteed, blackened or fried. The sides were generous portions. Our waitress was very patient as I wanted to order everything and couldn't make up my mind. She just stood there answering all my questions with a smile on her face. Next time we come we want order 4 appetizers and have a few drinks. They are supposed to have excellent clam chowder so keep that in mind. We saw it go by and it lovely amazing. It was just too much food for us anyway and we wound up taking a lot of it home. Would definitely come again and by all means come casual!! Very friendly group at the bar. We came early so there was no wait.

“Good Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

The menu is large but we've been twice recently and everything was good. You can get any fish they offer grilled, sautéed , blackened or fried. The sides are good and generous and the sewer ice is friendly and attentive. Decently priced and I recommend the Mahi grilled.

“Worth the wait.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I chose this place driving by and seeing the "award wining chowder" sign out front. It was about 11 am and we were driving North on A1A into St Augustine for a day steeped in history (and tourist traps!). We hit the Sunset Grille just after 6:30 on a Saturday night to be faced with a 45 minute wait. And, contrary to our usual behavior, this time we waited. Outside on the front patio in 50 degrees with a beer and a shot of Jack. We shared an appetizer of spinach, artichoke and crab dip. It was good, but nothing to rave about. I had the clam chowder which was creamy, garlicky and full of bacon, potato and juicy clams. Wonderful. Jim had grilled shrimp. Again, they were good but nothing to rave about. BUT the rice and beans that they came with were the best I have ever had. I asked for the recipe - they don't give it out. But our server told me she knew they had jalapeño in them. I will try to come close to them when I get home. This is a great place. Generous portions. Long lines. And happy people. I would go back again without hesitation. For the rice and beans alone.

“Saint Augustine Beach's Best Place for food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

As this was our third trip back to the Sunset Grille I felt compelled to write a short review...simply the best place to eat in Saint Augustine Beach! Expect to wait - its worth it - at least 15/20 minutes to be seated.

The menu is comprehensive, the servers are very personable and attentive; and, the food is just excellent!

Enjoy!
