“Excellent clean sheets & covers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

I love the extreme clean bed sheets & pillow cases, & the duvet. This is the 1st time any hotel was able to brag about having laundered all their beddings including the duvet, for every guess prior to arrival. I am extremely impressed, & I have stayed in many hotels, even the more expensive ones. This cleanliness is the most important factor for my choosing any future hotels now, since I know this Hampton has done it.

Pros: Within walking distance (few blocks) of St. Augustine tram service. Or about 1 mile walking distance from Historic District (not bad). Safe to walk back to hotel at night. For about $15 you can get a 3 day pass to ride the tram with the driver giving any passengers a historic tour. There were about 20 different stops in the historic district to get off at and included a shuttle to Anastasia Island/Lighthouse. Cons: Difficult time booking stay. Wife and I called two separate times within 10 minutes, they quoted her a lower price/night and gave a AAA discount with her. At check in, the hotel staff said the manager wasn't honoring AAA discounts, but when we mentioned the names of the people we had talked to on the phone, the hotel staff gave us the discount. Hotel is close to the road so any loud vehicles may be heard. Pillows are incredibly overstuffed and round (like jelly beans). Sounds silly, but your head slides off of them.

This was my worst stay at a hotel ever. My husband, a young and physicall active man, fell in the bath tub because there is no traction on the fiberglass tub and the back side of the tub has a steep incline. When he fell, he broke the tub and cut his foot along with cracking his twelveth rib. We immediately informed the desk clerk who informed us that we have to ask for the bath mat upon check in. I am 5 months pregnant, so we were thankful in a way that it was him and not me. We informed the clerk that the the tub was cracked. They had us stay in the room. Later that night the floors were drenched from where the water seeped out from the crack in the tub. After complaining multiple times, they finally moved us to another room. They forgot to turn on the free WIFI in the second room. The tub design is extremely unsafe- elderly beware.

Very disappointing stay for 3 days. Commode was stopped up when we got in our room, closet door locked couldn't hang up clothes or use iron, and bath tub was locked up so that the shower and faucet went at the same time. Staff was very nice and explained there were certain things beyond their control and only got the toilet fixed. Asked for another room, but didn't get one. Cucumber flavored water in lobby was terrible tasting. Very glad to leave here.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else, not worth the money

We love the Hampton Inns but this one was disappointing. The staff was terrific, kudos to them. But the property is not so much. There is no parking. They don't have automatic doors, which is tough when you're dragging luggage. There is a huge potted plant in front of the non-automatic door, making entry even more difficult. The decor is awful. The room had no two patterns alike--it was an assault to the senses. The duvet cover on one of the beds was stained and I hate to think what that was. There were toenail clippings on the carpet in front of the fridge. The fridge cabinet door was broken. It was so noisy with street noise and hallway noise and doors slamming. Luckily we didn't spend much time there. And as I said, the staff was super nice and excellent. The property was not to our liking but one of the staff said it was going to be renovated.

Dear KatrinaSFristoe,
Thank you for your recent review of our property. I was disappointed to read of that you were not satisfied with the location or amenities, although pleased to read that my staff took such good care of you. We are still undergoing our Hampton renovations and will have automatic doors and renovated bathrooms in the next few months. If you ever do find yourself back in our city, we would be honored if you would come back to stay with us here at the Hampton.

My husband and I took a little mini vacation to St. Augustine. We stayed at the Hampton and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very nice, the room was always clean and it was in a perfect part of town. We were literally walking distance to any and everything. We really had the most pleasant time and cannot wait to come back.. We will most certainly stay here again and recommend this hotel to all of our friends. Also, the pillows are to die for!

After reading several reviews on this property, we weren't sure what to expect. However, everything was excellent. The lady at check-in was very helpful. The room was clean, smelled nice, and of good size. The breakfasts were good. A big plus is that it is only a few blocks from the free parking for the trolley that takes you around town. We will stay there again.
