I read an article in Shape magazine (I think it was Shape) about this hotel and put it on my list of places to visit. I stayed for 2 nights. The room was small but beautifully decorated. Bose wave radio alarm clock in the room was a nice touch. The bathroom had no tub, only a stall, which was a small drawback, but I survived. They may have rooms with tubs, so you might want to ask if this is an issue for you. Valet parking is odd, but they are fast and attentive and always ask if you need directions and point you in the right direction as you are leaving. The Concierge staff were great. 95 Cordova was great, the service was outstanding (I had a cold and kept leaving to use the restroom and the poor waiter was folding my napkin all night long!). The food was excellent, but I want to say that maybe the chef is trying to hard with the fusion thing. For example, there was this fantastic appetizer of calamari with a fennel sauce and olives and just when you think they should have stopped there, they topped it with more stuff and then a little something extra. It was good, but odd. I booked a package that came with a ghost tour and breakfast. You are also charged a $10 resort fee each day for the Beach Club of which they are associated whether you go or not. I highly recommend the beach club for a day. They have a pool for kids and families and a pool/jacuzzi for adults only which over looks the beach. You can't hear the kids in their pool and the beach is great to walk on (but bring your beach/pool shoes if you intend to walk on the beach!!! The beach is all rocks/shells, hardly any sand and killer on the feet). The food at the beach club is outstanding, I preferred it to 95 Cordova. No money is used at the beach club, just sign it to your room (they figure the tip for you as well). They have a fantastic shower facility with everything you need. Just bring your bathing suit and a cover up and enjoy! The shopping in the area is very touristy stuff, not worth more than one pass through, but nice to walk around after dinner to get dessert. The hotel is within walking distance of a lot, so I hardly took my car out at all. Last point: I highly, highly recommend the St. Augustine Lighthouse. If you can time it right, go when they have their sunset/moonrise or moonset/sunrise each month. Worth the money. I agree with another reviewer that the walls are paper thin. I travel with earplugs as a rule and I still woke up at 3 am to hear room service banging on someone's door.
