My family and I first visited The Prince of Wales a long time ago. We decided to go to back again. This time we took the whole family. The food and atmosphere cannot be beat. The Banagers and Mash are one of our favorites, but the rest of the food is awesome. The fish and chips should be renamed Whale and chips. That was the biggest piece of fish we had ever seen....DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE

The Prince of Wales is a great little pub on one of the side streets off of St. George Street. We stopped for a late lunch after a busy morning of walking and site seeing. The inside seemed small but we ate outside on the spacious balcony. The balcony was shady and quiet and the service was timely but not intrusive.
They offered a variety of beer and ciders and the menu was typical British pub fare. We ordered the fish and chips and were happy to find that they were very authentic (having recently moved from the UK, my husband was pleased) as was the Chicken and Mushroom Pie. A word of warning though, the portions are enormous! We ordered the sticky toffee pudding and spotted dick for dessert and were too full from the entrees to truly enjoy them (although they were excellent puddings!).
We would recommend the Prince of Wales for a nice leisurely, low stress lunch or dinner and would visit again.
Love the location, atmosphere, beer choices, and the fish and chips.
We had a very nice meal. Not fancy. Great place for lunch.

I live in Jacksonville, FL about 45 min North, and have been somewhat disappointed with the typical tourist food served in the St Augustine restaurants. What a pleasant surprise when we happened upon the Prince of Wales. The service was excellant, and the fish and chips were terrific. We have made this a regular stop when in St Augustine, and have recommended the restaurant to others. You will not be disappointed. If the owners are in you will be in for lively conversation and an enjoyable evening.
Have not had a bad dinner or experience on any of the several visits.
From the onion rings to the fish & chips and the beer selection, this was incredibly good.
