The location in the center of old St. Augustine put us a short walk from a sight-seeing trolley stop, historic tourist attractions, and some great restaurants and bars. Free parking was about a block away, but no inconvenience: we had no need of our car during our two night stay.
The room was smallish, clean, nicely furnished and included a private bath with shower and whirlpool tub. We made use of the flat-screen cable TV in our room (20" screen, satisfactory) but did not make use of the provided WiFi connection. A firm, comfortable bed and a quiet neighborhood made for good sleep.
Breakfast, served family style, included juice, coffee, fresh fruit salad and fresh baked muffins to complement the main course (fresh waffles with three types of sausage on day one / a great quiche on day two). Second helpings were offered. This beat any breakfast I've ever had in a restaurant.
Our innkeeper was warm and friendly without being intrusive. She answered all of our questions about the area and steered us to some restaurants that really suited our tastes.
I'd recommend 44 Spanish Street to anyone who enjoys or is considering a B&B. We will be returning there.
