I was amazed to read a couple of negative remarks about O'Steens. Yes, it has zero atmosphere, and yes it only has plain food and fried. But there is no place on earth that I have been to that has better shrimp than O'Steens. It is so small that only a small population have the opportunity to eat there. You have to go extremely early to get in. The lines of people waiting are famous! We would go there more often, but aren't willing to wait 1 to 2 hrs. to get in! Our second favorite place is Schooners. It has a larger variety on the menu, but sorry...O'Steens shrimp is unforgettable!

We moved to Florida from Indiana and you will not find better shrimp anywhere! This is "to die for shrimp". O'Steen's is always voted #1 in the "Best Shrimp" category in the The St. Augustine Record. Friendly staff. Get there early to avoid long lines. Highly recommend!!

The restaurant itself is nothing to get excited about. It's just a little place with almost painfully little decor and no ambience. The shrimp however is out of this world. A nice, light breading and the shrimp are so tender and sweet. Normally I won't order shrimp as a main course, but I would order it here again and again.
