We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding. We chose this hotel because of the high ratings and proximity near the beach. The hotel is located close to the beach, but the hotel is not located on the beach itself. It is about a 3 minute walk. That being said, it is quieter because it is not located near the historic district of Saint Augustine. To get to the historic district, you will need to either have a car or take a taxi. It is about a 10 minute ride to the historic district.
The hotel lobby is clean and modern with a large breakfast area. Check-in and check-out was efficient. There is only 1 elevator that I saw and during peak hours, it can be slow. It can be faster to take the stairs, but the stairs are located at the end of the hallways.
Our room overlooked the front entrance of the hotel. The hotel is located in a residential area that is quiet, so there are not clubs or bars or restaurants. Parking is self-park and free, which is nice.
We went to the beach, but we peeked at the pool. Towels are provided, and the pool was quite busy.
Our room was nice and modern. It appeared clean, but then we noticed that under the bed, it had not been vacuumed and candy wrappers and dust bunnies were seen. The bed was comfortable. You can hear hallway noise, but fortunately that didn't bother us too much. Our room was by the elevator and we could hear the guests using the elevator. Bathroom was standard. There is a microwave and a small refrigerator, which was helpful for storing cold drinks.
Breakfast seems to be the highlight at the Hampton Inn. It is crowded, but the selection is quite good. There are hot entrees, breads, cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc. They even have a large screen TV. Often, breakfast is so crowded that guests end up sitting on couches and eating in the lobby area. Food is replenished quickly, so even if you got there 5 minutes to closing, food is still there.
In regard to other meals, I didn't see any restaurants or grocery stores within walking distance. We had a car, so we drove to the historic district to eat.
There is one computer that is a bit slow, but you can use it to print out your boarding pass or other travel documents. I don't know if they have a formal business center because the computer is in the lobby.
Overall, this was a good place to stay for the travelers who prefer beach and quiet instead of the lively historic district of Saint Augustine that has restaurants, bars, and shops. If you stay here and wish to go to the historic district, you will either have to take a taxi or drive a car. There are not any restaurants or grocery stores in the area, so you will have to go other places to eat.
