The Scottish Inn I stayed at was 420 Anastasia Blvd, not 427....so I hope I'm reviewing the right motel.

Formerly the Lion Inn, this motel is now in the Scottish Inns chain. It's an older facility with 50s style tiled bathrooms, but that also means the rooms are big and roomy. Everything (including the pool) was very CLEAN, bath water was nice and hot, rooms had micro/frig, a firm bed, new furniture, and they honored a discount motel travel coupon placed as Lion Inn. Drawbacks: no breakfast (only coffee) and an AC unit that was slow to cool the large room (but eventually did). They don't offer internet access, but I had no trouble picking up their office wi-fi with a clear signal and good speed. For 1/2 the price of many other economy motels in town, this was a very pleasant treat to the wallet. I Highly recommend it for the budget traveler.

all i can say is filthy! the carpet was so dirty i was afraid to walk on it in my bare feet. the entertainment was a little scarey, it seems to be the hangout for drunken bums, they drank and argued all night just two doors away from us. we barely slept for the two days we were there. please do not go there! fear this place!

We stayed at this hotel on the way back home from Daytona Beach. We wanted to see the sights in St. Augustine for the night and weren't really concerned with anything else but having a bathroom and a bed.

On the plus side, there is a really cool tree in the middle of the courtyard that is said to be over 400 years old. Supposedly it was used to hang criminals from...at least that's what the sign said. The hotel is located right on San Marcos Ave. which makes it convenient to walk to all of the sights and attractions. There is fairly decent restaurant next door and a convenience store less than a block away. The rest of the historical district is less than 3 blocks and Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and train rides are only the next block over.

On the other hand, this hotel was seriously lacking in cleanliness. The walkway in front of the room was littered with cigarette butts. Hey, I smoke, but I'm respectful of others. Even *I* don't like walking through nasty cigarettes getting to the pool.

The shower handle was one of those awful things that you have to turn 360 degrees to get it to come on and then you fiddle with it for 20 minutes trying to get the right temperature which ranges from freezing to scalding...but nothing in between. After I took my shower, my daughter attempted to get a shower and we couldn't get a drop to come out of the spigot. Eventually we gave up and my daughter ended up on the road without a shower.

In short, if you want a place to stay that is less than $100, you're not particularly fussy about cleanliness, and you want to be conveniently located to all the attractions of historic St. Augustine..this might be a good bet for you.
