“These aren't your momma's grits in this gourmet southern restaurant that is dog friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013 via mobile

Do not miss this restaurant. We started with the cheese appetizer. Excellent selection and presentation. The shrimp and grits are awesome. The grits are more like fried polenta cut in hearty triangles. The fried green tomatoe topping my luscious fresh flounder salad was so delicious I almost didn't share. Dog friendly. Excellent service.

“"All Around Perfect Dining Experience"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

The restaurant was suggested to us by our Innkeeper and many more locals during our stay in St. Augustine. We decided to try the Floridian on our last night in town. We are so glad we did!! Bethany, our server, was so gracious and helpful. Her suggestions were impeccable and her super generous spirit allowed us to become "fast friends." I had the "not so mac & cheese" with the flounder & my fiance had the ever famous "shrimp & grits". Our meals were perfect!! We left feeling like we ate a fresh, healthy and delicious meal. I am not particularly fond of seafood...BUT the FLOUNDER was amazing!!! It was so tender, so perfectly cooked, and did not contain even a hint of "fishy-ness". You know they say that when seafood is at its best and fresh, the "smell of fish" is not present. IT WAS PERFECT!! Everything is farm to table, and the fresh ingredients are unbeatable!! The Shrimp & Grits sat in a complimentary sauce that was just right and was topped with a soft feta cheese!! I would eat here again...and actually can't wait to eat here again! Thank You Bethany for an awesome experience we'll never forget. Glad we spent our last night/dinner at The Floridian!!

“Fantastic dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We went to the Floridian on the recommendation of the owner of the B&B that we were staying at. We had to wait for a few minutes to get seated, but it was fun because we were right next to the kitchen and got to watch the chaos of the kitchen and wait staff. The dining area was quiet and had an eclectic mix of glasses, chairs, lights and artwork. The bar was in the back of the restaurant and the waiter told me that I had to go back there to get my drinks instead of being able to just order them from the table. Something about a liquor license issue. Not a big deal. The food was fantastic and we left stuffed and satisfied.

“Every meal here has been delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

After our first stop at The Floridian last November, we have eaten here several times since. The large salad bowls change with the seasons, and the Autumn Bowl was delicious. Every meal has come out fresh and in a timely manner. Servers are friendly, and happy to answer questions. We have eaten on their patio, which is pet-friendly, always a plus for us. It is fun to sit and people watch while you eat outdoors. One meal we ate inside, we were seated near the kitchen. It was crowded and very noisy in the small room, nearly to the point of distraction. We had mahi mahi sandwiches, which were delicious, but the noise level was a turn off. The next time we ate there during the summer, it was much more quiet inside, and again, the food was delicious. I appreciate that they use local and organic produce. This is one restaurant we would eat at again and again. One of our favorite restaurants in St. Augustine. If you haven't eaten here, it is definitely worth a try. Highly recommend. Prices reasonable for a tourist town.
