These days, almost every touristy town touts itself as a place to buy art. Thing is, most of them seem to have a really loose definition of "art" and place strangely high price tags on amateurish or hackneyed "schtuff." But St. Augustine is the exception, and if you only visit one of their many fine art outlets, High Tide (formerly Mullet Beach) should be that one. There really is something for everyone. This little shop is just bulging with treasures in all price ranges and many styles -- from note cards to jewelry to ceramics to pricey wall art. We could have spent a fortune, but as it was, we somehow escaped with 2 beautiful art glass pendants on silver chains and a handmade ceramic dolphin fridge magnet, all for around $100. As if that weren't enough, the owner was very welcoming and helpful, as was the store's mascot, an adorable and elderly-looking pug.
