“Don't miss this one!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We ate here three times during our recent Florida vacation and each time was a treat. You could easily drive by this place on A1A in the Crescent Beach area. It's a small A frame building with a lot going on inside. It is small, only nine tables, so get there early. It is honestly among the best Italian food we have ever had. Everything is homemade and delicious. I don't eat veal, but my husband says it's the best he's ever had. I had the zuppa de pesce once and the flounder francese twice, All excellent. Forget the diet, you have to have dessert here. They are incredible. My favorite was an Italian pound cake, but all are excellent. You will be talking about this place and longing to return, I assure you. I don't know how they manage to produce such wonderful food in such a small space. You won't be disappointed. We ate at many restaurants in the St. Augustine area and this one wins, hands down.

“Excellant - atmosphere great - food very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We spent two nights in St. Augustine and on one night we ate here based upon trip advisor reviews - it was great!!!

When you first pull up to the place you won't be very impressed. The parking lot is small and cramped, and the buidling is a small "A frame". We asked the owner, (Jerry?) about the building's history, and we learned it had been an office for a real estate business, and other restaurants that had opened / closed, before the current owner opened his place a number of years ago. He told us his family was from the Long Island area, they used to own a famous night club in Ft. Lauderdale. The owner's wife was also working that night, helping out in the kitchen...... and we suspected that one of the two servers may have also been a relative. This "Family owned and operated" atmosphere added a lot of ambiance to our dinner.

Inside, there are only about 10 tables... and a few more out on the balcony. We observed a number of potential diners that arrived and left because there were no empty tables. We suggest that you either arrive early before the dinner rush, or late after the rush, to get a table. The interior has great atmosphere - lots of family photos, nick nacks, etc...

While there, we noticed a number of "local resident diners" who know the owner and were obviously regulars. We also observed some "snow birds" who indicated they ate there when they were in the area.

Dining time is bit longer than normal, as everything is made "fresh to order".

Our server was new, and a bit unsure about some menu speicfics, but his attitude and helpfulness were good. Jerry was always near by to help him out.

We had stuffed mushrooms - they were good, but not espeically great. We shared an Antipasto salad which was great - if you are really hungry, order this before your dinner!!! I also had soup with vegs and pasta - very good...For entrees we had pasta with red sauce and home made meatballs - very fresh tasing.... and an eggplant entree which was great. (Jerry explained the differences between the eggplant choices to us before we decided.)

We highly recomment this restaurant - if you are looking for "fancy" or "fast" - this may not be your best bet. But, if you want authentic Italian, in a great "old world / Italian family" atmosphere, you should really go!!!

“More than What You'd Expect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

I know how to research, and I found Casa Benedetto's to be more than satisfactory. Reason being, the quality of the food is so superb I felt a bit depressed that the restaurant is located so far away from home. The waitress Josephine was considerate, and there was no wait to be seated on a Saturday night. Family owned businesses are the way to go, all the way.

“Jist Like Grandma Used to Make”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We've been searching for a good home feeling italian restuarant in the St Augustine area for 15 years. Then we found Robyn and Jay at Casa Benedetto's - our search was over.

They feature a full italian style menu that brings me back to grandma's kitchen. My husband likes the several veal offerings and in particular a spicy chicken dish called Chicken Scarperilli. As for me, anything with their marinara sauce gets my attention.

In particular, I love the atmosphere - a simple warm and cozy place with the personal friendly attention of the owners Jay and Robyn and their feel at home servers.

“Again, a great meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We had dinner Friday night here and as always it was great. You do need to go early as it is a small restaurant and it fills up fast. Try the veal dishes you can,t go wrong . Try the cannoli,s for dessert.
