“Always Great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

Each year we travel north during Christmas and always pick the Bayfront Inn to stay at. The rooms are roomy and the location can't be beat. We reccomend the Bayfront for your travels - you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I went to St. Augustine this past weekend.. It was more of a last minute trip, and between the places that were booked up and the ones that were too expensive, Bayfonr Inn seemed to be a good choice. This was a great deal. The ladies who work there are so nice- the woman who checked us in was hands down the nicest hotel worker I have ever dealt with, and considering we checked in in Christmas day that says a lot. The rooms have been renovated and were very nice. Please note that you can hear people above you, below you, etc. Also, even though the rooms look nice there is a slighly musky smell. This is all due to the age of the hotel. If you want to stay in the historic distric this is what you are going to have to deal with! It really isn't that bad though, and I thought it just added to the experience staying somewhere that had been around for so long.
This hotel is near everything- we didn't have to get in the car until we left. You can walk to the trolley stop, or just walk around town as we did. It's really not that big!
There have been complaints that the breakfast isn't great- no, there was nothing spectacular. I was fine with what they offered though. They had different types of toast, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, apples, and beverages. It was more than ok considering the price of the room. Of course you can pay an extra $100 a night and stay at a B&B...I'd rather spend the money at a resteraunt for dinner!
The best part was coming back to the hotel the first night and seeing the Christmas lights up. What a nice surprise!
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here.

Our trip was a week before Halloween and since St. Augustine is supposed to be the most haunted city in America it really made me wonder if it would be safe here because the first things I noticed were several black birds sitting on the Bayfront Inn sign. After checking in, my daughter's best friend picked up her large suitcase and when she set it down one of the wheels broke. She said she had packed her whole closet in it. Our room was fine (Esmeralda), next door to the kitchen. That 1st night all three of us were awakened when the bathroom door suddenly opened and hit the side of the wall with a loud bang! I just thought it was my daughter going into the bathroom, but the next day we discussed it and it was not any of us and our door was locked! We had the best breakfast the next morning (frittata). That was my first time to eat that delicious egg dish. That afternoon we had all kinds of snacks, healthy ones! They also had soft drinks, juice, and wines. Every day was a little different; but always excellent! We always ate outside on the porch where we would talk, plan our adventures and watch the ocean. Parking was somewhat of a problem because you had to drive down the block to get a spot, but I am still hungry for more of that yummy frittata!

I've stayed at the Bayfront Inn a few times with my husband, and get a King bed room on the first floor..Always very clean*..The furniture is nice, modern ,dark wood. The bed is very comfortable.A nightstand on either side of the bed with lamps.Large armoir with a TV inside.Desk and chair(with a small coffee maker)..I really like the updated vanity and sink area outside of the bathroom-A woman thing! (with blowdryer-cotton balls-Qtips-soaps-etc)The bathroom is updated with fairly new tub/tile/fixtures/etc and CLEAN* Closet next to vanity area with Iron/and board*

Location is great! On the bay.Walking distance to everything.FREE PARKING! Not always easy to find in St Augustine..Lobby area is clean and organized ..A stand full of visitor information/brochures/etc..In the Am -a small continental breakfast is available..Coffee/Tea/Milk/Juice/Cereal/Fruit/Toast/Oatmeal..

One thing to mention: no small fridges in the rooms*That's always a big plus for me-because there's always leftovers from restaurants.

There is a pool -I haven't used it because I'm usually in St Augustine during the chilly times of year..But a nice plus if you're there in the summer months..

As another reviewer stated "let's call it what it is" a motel: yes ,a nice-clean-updated one!
As with everywhere in St Augustine -prices are at the highest on Friday and Saturday nights-and lower Sunday thru Thursdays*

I would recommend this to anyone for the cleanliness-location-value

We booked the suite this month October 2011 and found it to be quite lovely for three. The free parking is an amenity that was appreciated. The Inn is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the trolley tours. The front desk is pleasant and informative. The little continental breakfast is just enough to get one going for the day. Sitting out on the balcony in the evening to catch that breeze was simply devine.
We will book there again. Connie/Florida

Room Tip: I believe the suite is most likely the best although my one friend did complain about the noise righ...

Okay -- let's call it what it is: a motel. You can motor right up to your room in this mostly two story facility. Parking is a premium in St. Augustine, so having a space right by your room is a major plus. The rooms are average in size but have been upgraded recently, providing a fresh feeling to an older property. I have stayed there several times and have always been impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms, the grounds and the lobby. The complementary breakfast is always fresh and well-staffed.

The location cannot be beat for an easy walk into the historic district, where many great restaurants can be found.

For a special treat, check out the historic carriage house located about two blocks fromt he main property. It is a romantic escape while still close to the tourist district and Flagler College.
