For my trip to St. Augustine, I was looking for a B&B that would accomodate my parents, who are 83 and 85 years old. I interviewed several B&B owners before making resevations, including talking to David (and wife Marie), who own Penny Farthing. Based on my conservation with David, I booked at Penny Farthing Inn and they delivered! My parents are used to having something to eat very early in the morning, and I requested that cereal and milk be available by 6:00AM. As soon as we arrived, the owners followed up on my request, asking what type of cereals to buy for my parents. This really helped them feel at home.
Penny Farthing is a a few blocks from the shopping and historical area of St. Augustine, as well as the trolley. (I didn't want to rent a car, so I needed a short walk for my parents.) The rooms were very clean, had comfortable beds and decorated beautifully. We had two rooms on the main floor, which open up to a newly built, spacious deck. We had breakfast on the deck, afternoon snacks, and wine in the evening. Some friends from Florida come up to visit and we spent the afternoon visiting on the deck. The breakfasts were delicious, and afternoon snacks and wine were available. The staff was very personable and accomodating. David and Marie are wonder hosts - very friendly and helpful, but also giving you some space. My Dad, who is not a B&B fan, said he would like to go back to Penny Farthing.
