We stayed at the Penny Farthing Inn just 2 weeks ago and wish we were there now. Innkeepers Marie and David take care of EVERY detail for a wonderful stay. St. Augustine is a very beautiful and romantic city and the Penny Farthing is the icing on the cake. If you like a quaint B&B with a wonderful breakfast then this is the place. Operated by a British couple they take pride in their friendliness and attention to detail.
We stayed in the Victoria Room and LOVED it. When we found we could stay another night David moved us into the York while we enjoyed the town.
We look forward to going back during the Christmas season.

“Wonderful hosptality”

Penny Farthing Inn

This was our first visit to St Augustine and we were not disappointed, what a beautiful old city. This was more than matched by our stay at the Penny Farthing Inn. What a beautiful B & B and a beautiful room - we stayed in the Tree House. The hospitality from Marie and David was excellent, we were looked after from the minute we arrived to time we left. The breakfasts were excellent and Marie even cooked an English breakfast as we are from Yorkshire. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the City of St Augustine then look no further than the Penny Farthing Inn - you will not be disappointed.

“Beautiful home, lovely hosts”

I expected the inn would be nice after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and visiting the website, but I was truly blown away when I arrived.

The photos and descriptions really don't do it justice. The home is quaint, clean, and on a nice quiet street within walking distance to most of the attractions of St. Augustine. They've got a nice living area where you can spend time, DVDs to borrow for your room, and plenty of wine if you're craving a glass in the evening. The hosts are lovely people and breakfast was just delicious. I had a special food requirement and they were more than happy to accomodate me. There's also plenty of parking.

I really can't recommend this inn highly enough, it's one of the best places I've stayed in recent months.

My wife and I stayed at the Penny Farthing Inn April 14-17 of 2008. We selected it based on postings on this website. We were looking for a B & B in the Historic District, but on a little quieter street.

Dave and Marie were gracious hosts throughout our stay. We stayed in the Victoria room and it was exactly as pictured. We loved the furnishings including the claw-tub. My wife needs a firm bed, due to back trouble. She had no problem with sleep, including the first night. We also loved the rockers on our private balcony.

The breakfasts, including fresh fruit served at each one, were wonderful. We enjoyed conversing with other guests before and after breakfast each day.

This was our first time in St. Augustine. We were able to see everything we wanted without needing a car. We were able to either walk or take trolley or bus to each place. In addition to shops in Historic District, we visited Fountain of Youth, historic home tours, the beautiful beach, and took a scenic boat cruise.

On the day we were checking out, our shuttle was not due to arrive until 2:00 p.m. to take us to the airport in Jacksonville. Even though our room was booked for that evening, Dave and Marie let us have access to the room until the shuttle arrived.

While we enjoyed the entire experience of being in St. Augustine, the highlight of the trip was the gracious hospitality of Dave and Marie.

“A true feel of Yorkshire”

Only good things can be said about our stay at Penny Farthing's Inn. From the moment my husband and I walked in the door, we were greeted with a warm smile and escorted to our room in the attic. The intricate details on the walls, the warm colors and decor that embraced us truly gave us a foreshadowing of a wonderful experience waiting to happen! Not only did we enjoy the room a great deal, but we were able to spend time with the family in the evening by the piano drinking a glass of wine and getting to know each other a bit better.
The next morning was just as welcoming as we went for breakfast and had a delightful homemade quiche with a fruit medley served by the welcoming faces of the day before.
I could only wish that our stay would've been longer! It was our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast, and it suredly set the tone for many future visits to come! We departed the inn with a great big hug from Dave, Marie, and Matthew. This is one memory for the books!!
