“Gorgeous room; lousy shower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

The Casa de Solana is on the oldest street in the US and the red train tour goes right past the courtyard. The rooms are huge and the beds are really comfortable. My sister stayed in Isabella and we stayed in the Montejurra Room. Isabella had a great corner balcony; the Montejurra had a small private balcony off the back and there is another balcony on the floor overlooking the courtyard. Every room is very private. The breakfast was not the high point of the experience, but very nice. The location was fabulous. The only thing keeping this review from being a five is parking (they tell you three blocks but it's seven by driving because of the one-way streets) and the shower. The Montejurra room has a large jetted tub with rain shower hanging above. The shower is too wimpy to use. You have to have it on or have the sink on full hot in order to get hot water in the tub. If we stayed there again, we'd pick a different room because of the shower. It was otherwise a phenomenal experience. Very quiet.

Room Tip: The Montejurra is in a quiet location with walking ally behind. Park in the Trinity Church parking...

We're sorry that the RainShower showerhead wasn't your favorite; we know how important the shower is! We do plan on remodelling that bathroom soon, so the shower will be as awesome as its jetted Jacuzzi tub counterpart!

As for parking, indeed to drive to our private parking lot, that which we share with two other B&Bs, one must maneuver around the one-way streets to get to the parking lot, but the walk back is more direct and equates to 0.2 miles. We do note that on our website and confirmation letter and again during the check-in process.

We are also excited to say that this very week we will be welcoming a new chef and are confident that she will bring to the table (literally) a fresh new perspective to our breakfasts.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and we do hope you'll visit us again!

My boyfriend and I stayed here in August and then again the 3rd week of December. We stayed in the Theresa Room the first time and the Montejurra Room in Dec. We wanted to come back to see the Christmas lights that are all over St Augustine and we weren't disappointed! This place is gorgeous and the Inn keepers, Jamie & Jeff, couldn't be more friendly or accommodating (and excellent cooks!) The rooms are beautiful and the grounds make you feel like you are in a private little oasis. The first room, the Theresa Room, has a huge jacuzzi tub/shower in the room and a private balcony overlooking the grounds. The second room we stayed in, The Montejurra Room is huge and has a beautiful and massive four post canopy bed that was so comfortable. There is a fireplace that came in handy because it got chilly at night and a balcony that over-looked the street that occasionally a horse & buggy went by. The breakfast was always delicious and in the afternoon they put out wine, cheese, crackers, & fruit.

The B&B is on Aviles Street and only a few steps away from an amazing Italian restaurant that has outdoor seating and a wine bar next door. Not to mention the many quaint little shops. We love this place and can't wait to go back. It is the perfect romantic getaway for a few days (I will be posting pics of both rooms). It also has tons of history and is one of the oldest buildings in all of St Augustine.

My boyfriend took me to Casa de Solana for my birthday, it was a surprise I didnt know where we were going. We arrived at Cada de Solana late at night they were very kind to leave us instructions and the keys to our room on their mailbox. When we got to the room I realized a huge bouquet of red roses were waiting for me! Well to make the story short the staff of the hotel helped my boyfriend arrange the roses that were on the room, a carriage ride (the most romantic thing ever in St. Augustine) the breakfast were amazinggg wow!! I am not a breakfast person but WOW!!! it was so good! The staff was friendly our room was very clean and super comfy! great location very close to everything! I will recommend this hotel to any of my friend and we cant wait to go back and sleep in "Catalina's Room" again

One of my favorite hotels, anywhere. We got married here in 2009, and have been back several times to relive the romance. It oozes old-style charm, and it's convenient for all the places in St Augustine we want to visit.

I picked this place out of the sea of other B&Bs out there to have our intimate wedding ceremony and I could not have been more pleased. All the guests were raving about the beautiful courtyard and oh the jasmine! I can't wait to go back and visit. This is the perfect place for a couple's retreat. The room and service was fantastic. The staff really let you come and go as you please so that you can enjoy your relaxing vacation and every time we retruned to the room, it had been cleaned and fresh towels were added. And the best part is the breakfast. These people really spoil you with their amazing culinary prowess each morning (which is vegetarian friendly but not so much for vegans). I never wanted to leave and we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Montejura suite and it had a great balcony with room for two or more.

This is the 2 nd time staying at this lovely Bed & Breaksfast. Just Spent 3 days over Christmas this time with our young dog (a golden) "Gracie" in tow. Once again had a terrific stay!
St Agustine is so beautiful during the Holidays and staying at Casa de Solana adds to the charm of being in this lovely location. During this visit we needed to change rooms on our 3rd day (we knew this would be the case when booked)
Both rooms were absolutely wonderful.
Family committments kept us from having breakfast 2 days of our stay but could smell the good eats and did partake in heavely home baked cookies in the afternoon.
This is one of if not the best B&B in the area.
On closing, Thank you Casa de Solana for helping to make our stay wonderful!
We plan on making your B&B our home away from home whenever in St. Augustine.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a nice size room and a relaxing bath- Book the Kirby

We loved having you here and were extra glad that you liked the Kirby Smith room, considering we had to move you from the 2-room suite to the smaller room due to lack of availability for the length of your stay. We look forward to your next visit and until then wish you all wonderful things in 2013.
