“Great hospitality and fabulous experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2007

The Alexander Homestead is a beautiful bed and breakfast nestled in a cozy neighborhood just west (approximately 2 blocks) of downtown St. Augustine. When we arrived, we parked our car and didn't use it the entire weekend. The location was very convenient and within walking distance of everything to see and do in St. Augustine. Our room, the Queen Anne, was beautiful and included a front porch with a chair and swing. A very romantic setting for my boyfriend to propose to me :) The room was spotlessly clean and included every detail to make it feel like home. We enjoyed the wine, beer, soda, and after dinner drinks that were available in the hallway, a few feet from our door. Breakfast was a treat each morning, the food was so fresh and the dining room was very relaxing and enjoyable. I strongly recommend this bed and breakfast for a romantic and enjoyable stay in St. Augustine. We will definitely be back there again, not only because we got engaged there, but also for the relaxing time that we had!

We stayed at the Alexander Homestead to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversay. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas inside and out. Our room, Sweet William, was wonderfully romantic with a half canopy bed. We even had a private porch and sitting room. Bonnie prepared a decadent breakfast each morning, her Bonnie Biscuits are to die for! We felt so welcome, it was like staying with an old friend. We plan on staying at the Alexander Homestead on our next trip to lovely St. Augustine.

Five couples traveled to the Bed & Breakfast Open House Weekend from different locations around Florida. Three couples stayed at the Alexander Homestead. But everyone wanted to be at this B&B and visited from early morning until later in the evening. Bonnie was gracious to us all. The house was decorated beautifully and even though we visited many other B&Bs, we were all happy to come home to Bonnie's for a glass of wine, great breakfasts and good conversation. Hated to leave. Thanks Bonnie!

We stayed for a weekend to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We had a wonderful time. Bonnie recommended some fabulous dinner restaurants and arranged for a carriage to pick us up at the front door.

Breakfast was great I will have to make the granola with vanilla sauce for Christmas Breakfast!

We walked to all the historic district attractions. The complimentary wine was nice to come back to and we sat on our private screen porch and enjoyed the lovely view and weather!

I would recommend to anyone who needs a relaxing getaway.

wanted that "perfect" getaway for our anniversary this year, but I had some really specific ideas of what all I wanted included in the trip- roses, chocolate, champagne, a jacuzzi tub, tickets to local attractions, and a nice breakfast. I spent hours pouring over brochures and online, only to be disappointed- the B&B's were all nice, but they either didn't quite have everything I wanted, or they were out of my price range. my daughter actually found Alexander Homestead and it was everything I was looking for- the jacuzzi tub, and great value packages available. warm, friendly atmosphere, extremely helpful service, we had a great time. can't wait to go back.

This was our second stay at Alexander Homestead and it was as special the second time as it was the first. Bonnie Alexander, the innkeeper, made us feel so welcome and she set up dinner reservations and a surprise(for me) horse carriage ride. My husband called and asked for her help arranging it all and it was MAGICAL. It was our 32nd anniversary. She had cookies and hot cider for the ride!
It's a beautiful old home and we had a room on the second floor overlooking the quaint, quiet street. We sat on the balcony pretending we lived there and were enjoying our "neighborhood". There was coffee and/or tea waiting each morning for us and the breakfasts are to die for. Definately not something you find in the restaurants. Something very special.
The other advantage, also, is that it is only a couple of blocks from Old Town and you can walk everywhere. Other B & B's are in town but this one is very quiet, clean and wonderful.
We look forward to going again.
We loved it so much the first time we booked a stay for our son's honeymoon.

We stayed at the Alexander Homestead for our anniversary, Memorial Day weekend, 2006. My fiance had never been to St. Augustine, nor had he ever stayed at a Bed & Breakfast. He fell in love with both. The inn is in an ideal location, within very short walking distance from all the main attractions in the town. It is in a residential neighborhood, and the house is easy to identify with its tiny white lights covering the outside. The decor is beautiful and authentic. One thing I worry about with B&Bs is cleanliness, but this place was immaculate! There was a tray of delicious brownie squares available all day, as well as complimentary wine, liquors, beer, and sodas. The apricot brandy provided in the room was extraordinary! Our room was located on the ground level, with a private screened in porch and extra large tub in the bathroom. Breakfast in the beautifully appointed dining room was delicious and filling. The staff and guests were friendly and helpful, providing suggestions of things to do and see in the town. We will definitely be revisiting!
