“Such a lovely and interesting accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

run by lovely and interesting people. Suzanne and Bob do everything they possibly can to ensure that guests have a fantastic experience, even down to the (free) sherry, wine and coffee in the sitting room. They are warm-hearted and generous and Suzanne is a wonderful and imaginative chef producing very tasty and filling breakfasts. The inn is situated in the historic district, is interestingly quirky and is full of character and period features. The standard of cleanliness is top notch. Our bedroom was especially comfortable and well-appointed. We enjoyed relaxing on the upstairs verandah in the evening, sipping our glasses of sherry! We would like to wish Suzanne and Bob every good fortune in the future and to thank them for making our visit so enjoyable and memorable.

We went as first time guests to the inn . We have had some strange and awkward experiences in the past with B&Bs. These folks made our wedding anniversary experience VERY MEMORABLE! The breakfast each day was amazing! The rooms were pristine and all the staff were friendly and efficient! Bob gave us great info to make our gastro and sightseeing experience great! I think we have found our new "Second home" in St. Augustine!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautifully appointed and true to period.

Old Powder House Inn is an interesting B&B. It has many pros among which are location, cleanliness and extremely nice owners. The owners will certainly make you feel welcome. If you are going to this B&B you must keep in mind that it is a very old building. Like most B&B's it has been converted from a single home to a B&B. The property is in pretty good condition but in areas you can tell it needs some attention. You could access our room from the side of the building so we couldn't miss the condition of the next door property which is not part of Old Powder House but is really in need of attention. We had the Memories Room which is large and nicely presented. However the bed is a little quirky. There is a fairly loud squeaking scrunchy sound when you sit on it or move around a lot. We are average size people so it was not due to weight. The other problem we had was the bathroom. It is extremely narrow and there is absolutely no place to put anything. It can't be more than 4 feet wide. There is sherry in the rooms and sherry, coffee, fresh baked cookies and some snacks in the main Parlor. The dining area is nice and quaint and breakfast is good. There was a mini fridge in our room with 2 small bottles of water and a couple sodas mostly diet sodas which we don't drink but once we drank the water it was not replenished. All in all if you enjoy the charm of old homes and are into B&Bs you will probably really enjoy The Old Powder House Inn and the extremely nice owners. We have stayed in some extremely well done B&Bs but I think as we age we might be appreciating modern a little more.

Room Tip: Some of the other guests we talked to at breakfast said the bathrooms on the second floor were more...

Very happy with our stay. Great location in the historic area. We parked the car & walked the beautiful streets & didn't want to leave. Very relaxing atmosphere & a wonderful breakfast. We will be back.

We were passing through on the way to Miami and driving around the Historic district looking for a hotel, when we came upon this lovely inn. Proprietors were very friendly and the place was charming. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda off our second floor room drinking our morning coffee. We were able to walk to everything, and had a great breakfast the next morning. Two thumbs up! Highly recommend. We will return again when we have more time!

Room Tip: We liked the second floor room with access to the veranda.

I don't normally write reviews, but my recent stay here was so wonderful that I feel the need to.

Three of us stayed in the Garden room, and it was great for our needs. The porch outside our room was also wonderful to sit on and relax. And you really couldn't ask for a better location. There are several restaurants across the street and you're right in the heart of downtown.

But the thing that made this stay great was the staff. Every single person we encountered was so friendly, and they went out of their way to make us feel at home.

In short, we never wanted to leave! And the old power house inn will be where I book whenever I come to St. Augustine from now on!

Room Tip: The Garden room is great for families or if you're traveling with friends - there are two day be...

This was my first trip to St. Augustine, was excited and a little nervous about staying at a B & B. However, upon arriving, we were immediately impressed with how beautiful everything was! The room was so cute and cozy. Anything we could need was already taken care of. After a delicious breakfast, we were looking forward to our day of doing "touristy things", Bob was happy to answer any questions, he was even able to get us the trolley tour tickets. This made the start of our day much easier. What a great location this was. Just a brief walk, you find any type of restaurant you could crave, any type of music you may listen to and oh the shopping, there is plenty of shopping to do. Such a great location, close to everything, we never had to drive anywhere.

You can tell just how much love and care goes into this property anytime you look around. Everything is well taken care of and was very clean. Bob and Suzanne are both very nice people, they make you feel most welcome. It was such a nice relief to see that they offered everything they said in their website and then some. If I ever get the chance to do this trip again, I am definitely going back to The Old Powder House Inn! Would not want to go anywhere else.

Room Tip: Our room had a private entrance, in the back.
