While enjoying the holiday lights during the first week in December, we stopped in the Bistro de Leon for the early bird meal. It included a glass of house wine, appetizer, main course and dessert. Warm, fresh baked bread with butter started the evening and was refilled upon request. The chef sent his compliments with a tapenade morsel. The appetizer was perfect. The main course was a veal stew - the chef's grandmother's recipe - served over rice. The pearl onions and peas added just the right amount of flavor. Dessert was a pear almondine tart that was packaged to go - complete with napkin and cutlery for a late night snack back at the beach side hotel. It was heavenly! All in all, it was a lovely meal, served by attentive staff, in a intimate bistro at a very reasonable price. The ladies powder room offers cloth towels and is charming. A French movie was playing in the background to add to the ambience. Locals appeared to be the majority. If I lived nearby, I would make Bistro de Leon a regular stop for dinner. Many thanks for a memorable evening!
