Definitely the place to stay if you are planning to spend time in the gym/spa. If you are planning to spend a week in the room, seek elsewhere. The room was very humid. The rugs always feel wet. My clothes always felt wet. The hotel even puts a duhimidifier in the room but it does not help much. The gym is the best I have ever seen in a hotel. It is an actual gym, not just a couple of treadmills.

This place gets a "Best in Category" from us. This is a renovated modest resort and we will be definitely be back.

It does some of the things right that are important to me: very good beds with nice mattresses, blackout curtains and nice staff who are honestly helpful.

It is nice to stay at a place where we do not feel like we are bleeding money. This resort starts in a nice way by having self parking close to the front lobby. There is valet parking but they do not look at you askance if you park your own car.

There is a standard fare restaurant right off the lobby. It was very good for the breakfast buffet that was included in our room rate.

It is set in a cozy residential neighborhood with other restaurants and a coffee bar within a few blocks. "Captain's Italian Restaurant" is inexpensive but excellent.

We only picked this resort because we were going to see a concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall but we will stay here the next time we come to the St. Pete/Tampa area again. Our fondest travel memories are from places like this one.

Planning note: They allow pets and the ground level rooms have walkout sliding doors.

I booked this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary because we were going the the local Jazz Festival. I booked this through the Hotel's website and was very excited from the pictures and description of services. I purchased the "60th anniversary package, which was not cheap. Part of this package was Spa services. I called 3 weeks in advance and had very limited services and times to choose from. When we arrived I thought the Lobby and the area where they have receptions and parties was very nice, but the remaing hotel was very dated, including the Spa. Our room was nice, but very warm, never below 76 degrees. We had maintenance come up twice and they could not fix the problem. They offered no explanation or offer to move us. The hallway outside our room and the elevator was not air conditioned, very hot. The Restaurant, only one, was small but nice and food was good. There are some nice restaurants in the surrounding area. For the money I paid, and again this was a package deal, which I won't do again, I felt this Hotel was overrated, and I will not go back anytime soon.

We just spent 4 days at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa and I have nothing but raves. We had a spa package that included a premium room, 3 meals per day, and $100 worth of spa treatments a day, gratuities for meals and treatments included. This is the way to go...a great deal. Our room was terrific with a great view. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. The spa was incredible. Fitness rooms had it all. Everything was clean and the pools were all very nice. They give you a great spa robe and you can wear everywhere. I never wore half the clothes I brought because I wore the robe to breakfast and lunch. I have to mention the water. I must have downed at least a gallon a day! The town of Safety Harbor is very nice although we never stepped foot outside the resort until it was time to leave. I can hardly wait to go next year.
