“quaint relaxing getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We had never heard of Ruskin so we were a little hesitant about coming here, we came out to celebrate a birthday and needed something close to Tampa but not that close. While I agee that the pictures on the site are better than the resort, it was a very nice place to come and get away from everything. If you are looking for a place to just relax and get away this is the perfect place. The staff is just amazing they make up the not so perfect rooms. From the moment you check in they make you feel welcome. The nice thing about this resort is that you don't have to venture out too far, if you enjoy BBQ they have a nice grill next to the swimming pool, at night you will absolutely love watching the sunset at the marina it was just beautiful and romantic. You also have the option of taking a tour to see the manatee which the kids love. There is a basketball court, tennis, fishing, and jet skiing. The food at the Sunset Grill was very good and resonably priced. If you want to go out to the casino, the Hard Rock is about 30 minutes away. I had a very relaxing time here and would definitely return.

Room Tip: This resort has 2 sections to it the resort part and the inn section. We stayed at the resort and lo...

My husband and I just spent three nights here. The hotel looks much nicer in pictures than in person. The room looked beat up and dirty in person. The towels were tiny and scratchy. You cannot use the internet unless you give a ten dollar deposit for an Ethernet cable. There is supposed to be a playground but it is missing. The treadmills in the exercise room are permanently set at a full incline. The beach was tiny. All in all very disappointing. This would be an okay place to stay if you were visiting family nearby, but not as a vacation resort.

So, first - the resort was much nicer than we hoped for. Entienne, (front desk) went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of whenever we had a concern or question. The restaurant is not overpriced and the food is really good. Sunset views - awesome. This resort is a perfect getaway when you want r&r and not too far, but far enough, away from the crowds in St Pete & Tampa.

Room Tip: Get a water view if you can

AWESOME!! My girlfriend and I stayed at Little Harbor overnight and it was beyond magical! Our room was perfect, the beach was breathtaking, the restaurant and bar were delightful! Our only regret was booking for just one night. We'll absolutely, definitely return! We attended the Tampa Bay Bucs night practice after we checked in. We came back to the resort, enjoyed a late evening trip to the pool and hot tub before adjourning to our room. The next morning, we enjoyed a gorgeous South Shore view and breeze before departing. Book a stay at Little Harbor, you will only regret not doing so sooner!!

My husband and I stayed at Little Harbour for two days in July. We go there quite often and have stayed for several yrs over the 4th of July. This time when we stayed I noticed a definite difference. The beach was littered with cigarette butts and garbage. As we walked down the beach there were bags of garbage. It would be very easy to clean this up. Also to make the beach more inviting, the seaweed should be raked in the morning. We talked to one family who refused to go into the water because of this. I dont ever remember it
being this way in the past. We stayed in a harbourside suite and the pool area was littered with used towels in the morning. They were towels from the day before. I believe they should hire someone to keep these area clean. The Tiki bar area by the restaurant was littered with cigarette butts. I, for one, do not want to dine with this garbage on the ground.
On the first morning when we went to eat breakfast the young man who waited on us brought us coffee and water and never asked if we wanted any additional beverage, such as orange juice. He just brought the coffee and water and without saying a word, left. I was hoping we wouldnt get him again the next morning. Thank God we didnt. We had a very attentive waiter, Chris. It was a much more enjoyable experience.
On a positive note, the harbourside suite had a most wonderful view. We thoroughly enjoyed this. We will probably return hoping that the problems I have noted will be resolved.

Just stayed with my daughter at the end of June for a girls trip to the area. There were many activities for families with the water, tennis, pools, etc. Our room was on the second floor with 2 queen beds, it also had a small kitchen area with a microwave, refrigerator and sink which was helpful. And, being on the second floor, we had a balcony as well. While the room and kitchen area were in newer shape, the bathroom could use a little upkeep, which is the only reason I did not give this a 5 out of 5. The front desk was very friendly and helpful with parking, directions, and resort information. It is a quiet location, but very peaceful and safe.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor have a patio by where you park (not a lot of privacy), rooms on the second...

We stayed at Little Harbor for 3 nights. The resort is nicely maintained and the room was clean and comfy. My big surprise was the staff. Anyone I met was very pleasant and happy to help.

We did have a problem with our reservation - we booked a king room and got a room with 2 queens. When I asked the desk about it in the morning, I was told that even though I had a printout of my reservation thru Expedia, the resort considers these rooms 'the same' and I should have called the hotel directly to get the king room (they only have 4). Surprisingly, by the same afternoon though, I got a call on my cell that I could switch to the king room if I wanted to. I'm not sure why this room was suddenly available, but I appreciated that they realized their error and were making an effort to accomodate us.

Yes, the resort is secluded but that just adds to the ambiance of the beautiful Gulf shore. There are plenty of places to stock up on Route 41 before you turn off for the resort. And if you don't have time to stop, they have a nice restaurant and bar/lounge areas.

We had a great time and would definitely go back.
