“Opus Hasn't Lost It's Glow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We recently revisited this uber ctiy-style dining place in downtown Punta Gorda and were pleased to find that time hadn't tarnished its style and dining options. Entertaining visiting family, we found the duck succulent as ever and other offerings just as good as we remembered. “Below Par on Thanksgiving”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

We have found that many restaurants aren't as good on holidays and Opus One wasn't an exception on Thanksgiving.
To start, they didn't have a bartender on duty, but the waiter was able to make my drink once we talked about it. As many restaurants do, they had a fixed price menu that included three main course choices, along with a choice of two starters, numerous sides, and three desserts; all for $29, which is certainly reasonable for a holiday. We shared a soup and a salad starter. Both were excellent. The prime rib was done as requested, tasty and tender. Much to our dissatifaction, the ham was dry and salty, and the turkey was dry on the other ham and turkey combo main course. We were not impressed with the side of carrots, and cream cheese/rosemary mashed potatoes, neither of which were very tasty especially for this more refined restaurant. The brussel sprouts were way over charred but yet undercooked on the inside. One dessert, the bread pudding was very burned on the bottom. Management did comp my wifes wine to compensate for the dessert. But, overall, this is not what we expect from an upscale restaurant. We have had better meals there in the past. The wait staff did not pay attention to details and were not as attentive as you would expect from this class of restaurant.

“Very Good, Highly Recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Wife and I ate dinner here and were very impressed. Decor was modern, very clean, intimate seating was nice. Service was very good, wine by the glass was excellent. Salmon had very nice flavor had nice crisp outside texture, very moist and perfectly cooked medium inside. Porterhouse large man sized with fantastic flavor. Sides were very flavorful and unique. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will make it part of our routine. Bon appetite!

“Great Food, Service Somewhat Slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

I've enjoyed the Opus cuisine about 6 times over the past several months, for both lunch and dinner. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Punta Gorda. Food has always been delicious and presented appealing. The only negative I've experienced is that most of the time service is a bit slow. Don't know if that is due to the food prep time for quality dishes, overwhelmed staff to guest ratio, or what reason. However, I still love the restaurant and will continue to patronize it.

“Fine restaurant with a great wine list”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We have dined here several times and have never once been disappointed. It has a pleasant atmosphere, a broad menu selection and a truly wonderful array of wines. Diners can eat casually at the bar from a smaller menu of apps and meals. The food is remarkable, finely prepared, well-presented by some terrific servers, and delicious. The bar seats do cause you to sink a bit; they are probably too comfortable because you end up feeling like a child in a high chair. They should replace them with firmer cusions. The bartending is outstanding, prompt, and pleasant. We would come here for a special occasion, for a general night out, for a cocktail or glass of wine. The prices are reasonable, if considered a little high for the market, but it's worth it. The duck? Superb!
