Based on the reviews, I had high expectations for this restaurant. The ambiance and decor are nice, but the food was overpriced and the service was slow.
The best part of our experience was the appetizers, which were served in a timely manner, at the appropriate temperature, and generous in size. Our table enjoyed the calamari, mussels, and jumbo shrimp. The chopped salad got a lukewarm review. The bread was delicious, filled with bits of olives and quite tasty.
We waited a very, very long time for our entrees. The restaurant was not busy, and by the time we were served it was nearly empty. There was no explanation offered for the delay. They were out of the strip steak, so I ordered the filet. It was under cooked, sent back, and returned under cooked. The vegetable (asparagus) was not hot on anyone's plate; and the "cheddar grits" served with the fried chicken (a very small leg/thigh piece) appeared to be a coagulated lump of cheesy rice, also not hot. The "truffle frites" were shoestring fries, clearly not fresh cut, perhaps tossed with a little truffle oil? They were not special. From the temperature of the asparagus and the "grits," it appeared the dishes were plated and left sitting for awhile.
This place would be nice for a cocktail and appetizer, but I wouldn't return for dinner. We felt the entrees were horribly overpriced.
