The rooms were large, but the cleaning left something to be desired. They give you a welcome drink upon arrival. My partially full cup sat on the dresser for the entire time we were there (5 days)...the cherry had bled into the drink, making it pink instead of lime colored! In addition, housekeeping did not leave washcloths for several of the days. We asked if they had any, and the housekeeper said "No."

The facility was large, but run-down. And watch out for the shower. It's VERY tricky. You have to figure out a complex series of maneuvers to make it work. Turn on the water, and flip this switch- but not all the way, or there is no water pressure. Now the water comes out of the hand-held shower head. To get it out of the main shower head, you have to turn another knob, and adjust the pressure up at the nozzle. Good luck!

The food was medium. There were some very good selections each night, but you had to look for them...most of the food was cold and overcooked. The bread, however, was excellent. "Gala night" had spectacular decorations- watermelon carvings and bouquets made of veggies... Only one restaurant, and they serve the same food as the buffet, only fewer selections. Plus, you have to make reservations at 12:30 everyday, and there is a long line.

They have a nice selection of fitness classes available everyday for adults. Yoga, water aerobics, bosu, to name a few, as well as free lessons in trapeze, trampoline, archery and golf. Very fun.

We did not see the children's productions, but the adult evening shows are lame. But as there is little to do right after dinner, you might as well go...

The staff was friendly, particularly the bartenders at the Sandbar. We camped out there every night and let them entertain us. There is this Club Med dance thing where some of the staff perform simple made-up dances to world music. You should join in at least once.

We didn't have any kids, but this is obviously the place to go if you have any. Lots of activities for the little ones all day.

All in all, it's great to be anywhere it's not snowing, but I would probably go somewhere else next time.

Club Med is a great family vacation. Great Food, Variety of Quality Childrens' Programs for all ages including Teens, Good night time entertainment. BEWARE: This resort is located on a river that is part salt water and part fresh water. The resort offers water skiing, tubing , etc. There are alligators in this water. This is confirmed by the locals. The resort states they have never had a problem with the alligators, but the locals have other things to say. The boats even drop off the guest (including children) in the marsh (very weedy) after water skiing and tubing. This is where alligators hang out. The Club Med workers say the boat engines scare the alligators away. The locals have seen 12 foot gators on the Club Med Beach. To be safe, DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN WATER SKI OR TUBE IN THIS WATER!!!

This was the first time my wife and I ever traveled with our children (ages 5 and 15 months). What a pleasant surprise! Sandpiper has a kids' and babies' Club Med that could really be an entity unto itseld - a separate organization altogether. It's not just a couple of rooms with toys - it's a full-blown camp for kids with counselors (GO's) who really care - and who really work hard! While your children are enjoying a fun-filled day at camp, you can relax and do the things you'd like to do. You can sign your kids out of camp at any time of day if you'd like to be with them - and sign them right back in later! Go for it - no disappointments here......

I have been to this resort 5 times, once a year for the last 5 years. If you have children, especially young ones, there is no better place to go. I have always traveled in April and May and never had a bad week weather wise. If your kids will stay in the kids clubs, (they are excellent) you'll find some time to do some waterskiing or just get a massage. Otherwise you can enjoy some leisure time with your kids at one of the 3 pools that allow kids. I would not go to this resort if you don't have kids. They are everywhere. The dining room is loud and very kid friendly. High chairs and bibs are supplied. Milk and baby food is supplied in a separate room. When your kid is having a fit , no one else cares. The circus and shows in which your kids participate are the best. Amazing what the GOs do with the kids in less than a week.

The food is average but you can always find something to eat. Plenty of kid friendly choices. The food was always hot and always replenished every time I was there. Dining room service was never a problem. Its all buffet style.

The dining room, pool, and rooms were always clean but not fancy. Rooms are very spacious. You can get an extra connecting room for yr kids for a very small price. The plumbing and showers are fine. A few times I did have a problem, (i.e. ants...)
my room was changed timely and the problem resolved. The GOs are friendly and a pleasure to dine with. Many have very interesting stories to tell. And if you want to dine alone, just ask. Never a problem.

The entertainment at night is fun, although tends to repeat yr after yr. Most families here have children and after the first show of the night, tend to retire. There are usually 2 shows and then a party in the bar if you're up to it!!

One drawback..the river is not for swimming. This resort is not on the beach. You have to drive if you want the beach.

I would not go here during the winter. It is probably too cold to enjoy anything. I have encountered a few nasty front desk attendants. But you see that everywhere.

One Club Med disappointment: Never a freebie or an upgrade, even for someone frequent travelers.

Go and have fun with yr kids. Great place for a relaxing vacation. All inclusive and everything you need within walking distance, right on the grounds.

I had so much fun on my family vacation. I had a bast with the teen group and the G.O.'s are so awesome. I know I am only 15 years old but i have an opinion. and i think that this should be a place where you go for a family vacation. I am practically begging my mother to let us go back. I personally think it is one of the most fun vacations i have ever been on. Not to tell u my whole trip story, but you can basically do anything. My mom and i went to the mall when it was rainy, and oh my goodness its just so much fun. I am young so of course i love the plays. My favorite i have to say is Pirate Night. So Much FUn. you should try it.

Just returned from a 3-day stay at Club Med Sandpiper. We have been to MANY all-inclusive Hotels and Cruises.

Firstly, Ill give my opinion on the biggest problem with this Club. The GO's (as they call the staff) are given TOO much freedom and free reign around the property!!! You will see them in their cliques at all the meals especially lunch and ESPECIALLY at the Sandbar after like 8pm!! They might say hello, but they are busy to hurry to there next college class it seems.

They are free to eat and drink (AND BOY DO THEY DRINK!) at their will
with us- the paying vacationer. Its not hidden, they wear their badges. You will find yourself waiting for drinks at the bar as they serve the staff! AND, they bombard the buffet RIGHT at the opening of each meal when the food is hot.

The Sandbar at night reminded us of a College Bar, as all the staff conducted their own parties! We enjoyed the Bar, but NEVER have we had to compete with the staff of a resort to get a drink.

Kids Clubs are --just like you have read on other reviews here...VERY good. The Club staffs are very caring. Beware if it rains, basically nothing to do.

Unfortuneatly, aside from the Clubs, there is nothing remotely close to SERVICE at this hotel. Everyone smiles but you are ON YOUR OWN!
There is no such thing as a waiter bringing you anything!..a drink, a fork, a plate NOTHING!

Grounds are kept in perfect condition with beautiful shrubbery..but it cant mask the fact that the buildings look old and tired from the outside.
Kinda like Holiday Inn looking.
Rooms are BIG, though. Albeit basic...needing some renovation, especially the shower plumbing. TVs too small(but with Club Med we are lucky to have them at all!)

Pool areas are very nice with comfortable pool chairs, and will provide a great day of sunning and swimming. The frozen drinks made in the Sandbar are very good!!! They are large and perfectly frozen...unlike A LOT of ones I have had at resorts and on cruise ships.

BUT, if you are at the Adults Only pool , you have to walk 5-10 minutes to get a drink and walk 5-10 minutes back. Request Building A if you want to be close to everything...The other buildings might give you a better water view, though...but far away.

Food is PLENTIFUL, but lacks any imagination. Youll see the same stuff OVER and OVER with a "different theme name."..Day two its tired.

WARNING...if you show up later at the buffets, forget about having hot food. And many of the offerings are not replaced. So, you wouldnt believe the crowds waiting to get in when the doors open!!!! So, that means 1230pm for lunch and 630pm!!! for dinner. Too early for us.

The meal at the A LA CARTE restaurant was good, reservations needed. Talk to Lois there, she will make you feel right at home!
