During our vacation with my family in port st joe, we decided to go scalloping. We went to happy ours to get a kayak to help my mother in law get around in the bay. When we pulled in, a rather unpleasant man (owner), met us at our car. When we told him we wanted kayaks, he said they closed at 5 pm, this was at 1:00. We explained we wanted to go scalloping, first he advised we needed license, which we had. He advised we needed a flag, which we had. He advised we needed gear, which we had. These were all attempts at excuses, so that we would no longer inquire about a kayak. My mother in law asked for a kayak once more, he said we close at 5, no other public access unless we went to the state park. The attitude that he portrayed towards us, was demeaning, and southern hospitality does NOT live at happy ours. Will never go back and I would advise the same to others.
