We were staying in Mexico Beach, Fl. on a family vacation and read about the Sunset Coastal Grill in Port St. Joe, Fl. Since "St. Joe", as the locals call it, is just a short drive from Mexico Beach along the coast, we decided to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and sophistication of the restaurant. The Ahi Tuna appetizer, pared with a wasabi sauce, was very good. They had a lot of fresh, local seafood that was prepared in creative ways, rather than your usual fried seafood which is prevalent down here. Like their Lobster Ravioli and their Shrimp and Grits, (which I got and thoroughly enjoyed). They had a nice selection of steaks that my husband took advantage of and from his empty plate, they did good on his steak as well. They have a great wine selection too. But all this was second to the view. The back of the restaurant is all glass, right on the water, and faces west. Plan on getting there right before dark and watch the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico. Good food, great atmosphere, excellent wines and watching the sun go down, we were in "sunset heaven"!
