“Spectacular!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

I love everything about this resort. The grounds are pristine. The service was excellent. The front desk staff remembered my name the entire trip. That says something. I'm a big customer service critic, and the Sawgrass staff passed with flying colors. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Best view is in back of the resort.

Stayed for 4 nights 19-22 May and expected much better from a Marriott resort hotel. Starting with a $22 plus tax per day resort fee which gave you complimentary self parking, 2 x 30ml bottles of water (per stay), enhanced high-speed internet (oh realy!!), etc - a complete rip off. The bedroom was ok but getting a bit tired - carpet edge frayed and shower taps loose. There was no Directory of Services in the room so you had to keep asking the front desk for times/place for breakfast, location of hotel bars and restaurants plus opening times, check out time, etc etc - just not good enough for a 4 star hotel. Also disappointed there were no slippers or dressing gown in the room. Perhaps I have come to expect too much from other parts of the world. As for some of the staff - a lot more training in how to be polite, helpful and welcoming is required. If you go for the golf fantastic, otherwise look elsewhere.

Sawgrass Marriott is one of my favorite category 5 hotels in FL. The Beach Club provides access to an amazing stretch of sand. The waves are intense and provide hours of fun body/board surfing. The shuttle service was running constantly and we didn't wait more than 10 minutes.

Staff is excellent and seemed eager to please.

The hotel is family friendly w/ 2 pools, 2 spas and a mini golf course.

We stayed in 1BR Villa Suite and it had more than enough room for family of 4.

My only complaint is that this property has now moved to a category 6 hotel and is no longer eligible for most Marriott free night certificates.

Just a heads up that you will now pay $21 for a frozen bagel and lukewarm coffee (continental). Plus you will get 2 tiny bottles of water for whole stay and be charged $15 - 22 per day 'resort fee'. If you are here for golf then it is the place to be, for business, not as good as it used to be.

This property was nice overall. The layout of the property was pretty and most of the staff were cordial and helpful. The restaurants were also great quality. We had a very disappointing check in process that needs to be addressed. After being on the road for 6 hours and arriving during the specified check in time we were told that we could not check in for another 45 minutes. I was fine with that as we went to get some groceries for the room. After coming back the second time we were told the room was still not ready but they would get us a different room. That was OK also.. this check in girl was not very cordial though. She told us the number of the unit and gave a key card.. when we got to the room there was no room number on the card so I had to call the from desk. I was given the number over the phone and went into the room and it was the wrong type of room.. not the suite with living , kitchen combo that I had book!! By this time we were getting frustrated. Back to the desk for a third time.. different check in person who tried to give us another room that was only a regular room not the suite??? Finally after he consulted with the manager twice we got a room that was different than I booked but at least had the mini suite that we were supposed to have from the booking. This was not a very good start to the vacation. Thankfully the rest of the stay made up for it as the room was nice and the spa and main lobby area were beautiful. The beach shuttle was also very convenient and prompt. The only other complaint was a very dirty patio area that had not been swept or or tables or chairs wiped down. I had to wipe them down just to be able to sit down. I waited tow days and then called but to their credit they sent two people and they cleaned it very thoroughly.Ground and all waling areas were beautiful.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the lagoon view.. interesting wildlife watching there.

Good high end vacation spot if you play golf. Trip was a combined business vacation trip, Hotel gets high marks for the way they handled 300 people for an event over a weekend. Great area for restaurants and shopping. Would recommend highly.

Just returned from a memorial day, two night stay at the property with my wife, daughter (9 yr.old) and I and here's the 'mixed bag' 411 on the property....

Let me start by saying I am NOT a golfer, so whatever credentials the property may have in the golfing world does NOT apply here.... I AM a Leading Hotels of the World member, however (see previous revious) and so may reflect a higher standard from which I may be a bit biased :)

Check it was very efficient, professional and friendly. "Jessica" (I believe) was all smiles and thoroughly explained all the essentials with efficiency and professionalism... No complaints at all there.... The room wasn't ready upon arrival as we got there purposely early so as to take advantage of the beach club :).

A shuttle may be ridden to the club (about 7 min. away). The pool there is decent size but since it's shared with Members and Guests it fills up very, very fast....

The whole facility was quite run down, however and did not reflect a high standard at all.... Tiles missing around the edges, rust around the ladders, greenish/sandy bottom and an overall early late 70's early 80's vibe are just a few reasons for my comment...

There is no beach side service of any kind, with the exception of chair, lounger and/or umbrella RENTALS from an independent contractor on siht ($35 for two chairs + umbrella and $45 for two loungers and Umbrella)!.... No discounted fees for guests.....

Chairs are free of charge around the pool area, but as members and guests freely drop towels and walk away, I recommend and early arrival (before 10) if you would like to lay on those....

Proximity to the Ocean, and drink availability made these factors almost disappear, however and it is a very nice option to be have beach access period.... Props for that...

Lunch at the sit down grill area was decent (not much creativity in the menu) if not a bit impersonal and very hectic (THREE bust people but only TWO waitresses for the whole place on Memorial Day Weekend?!).... Quality was average and taste was just OK....

I Imagine all three factors (service, quality and taste) would probably improve on a non-holiday weekend.... An overall remodel for the pool, restrooms (almost complete neglect) is desperately needed though....

The guest room itself (415 specifically) was also in desperate need for a makeover..... I understand some have already been updated, but certainly not #415 :).... Bare walls, 90's discount furniture and CD Alarm Player (who travels with CD's nowadays :) made the place feel like 1991.... Bed was comfy as were the linens.

Shower pressure was NON EXISTENT.... Seriously, turned up all the way it TRICKLED down ANEMICALLY but still managed to clog the drain??....

Decent night's sleep and back from the beach club on day two, we arrive at 3;30pm looking forward to a quick nap before heading to St. Augustine only to find out there has been NO HOUSEKEEPING in the room at ALL!!!.... WHAT??...Called the front desk, and was promised "a house keeper would be in shortly"....

NO APOLOGIES nor mention of the incident again....

Oh, and to make matters worse, NO HOUSEKEEPING for almost an HOUR!!

Walked down the hall and intercepted a very annoyed cleaning lady who lethargically handed us towels and shampoo as if she was doing US a favor.... Complete lack of professionalism bordering on disrespect!!

About :30 min. later a team of very sweet Hispanic ladies (my apologies for not noting names and noting ethnicity only to separate them from the other rude team we encountered down the hall), showed up with all intentions to clean, but at this point we were showered and already napping and preferred not to be disturbed...

I don't mean to make this into a completely negative review as there were many positive points as well. Here are a few of those:

1. Excellent breakfast buffet in terms of variety, quality, service, furniture, view and facility in general.

2. Overall staff was very courteous, kind and professional.

3. Plenty of areas to relax both indoors and out. Comfortable furniture in well
appointed common areas (if only the 'beach club" and guest rooms followed this lead).

4. Amazing Starbucks onsight

5. Many indoor and outdoor options for snacks and/or drinks

6. Great ocasional complimentary 'snack corner' at the front desk (oranges and sweetened nut varieties :)

7. Overall very well kept and clean common indoor areas

Decent stay overall but hope management takes the above mentioned points to heart and consider some tweaking as the property has potential to truly be amazing....

It should also be noted that a pretty hefty $22 'resort fee' + 'room taxes' added daily (glad to pay it if only some of the proceeds would help remodel the beach club, guest rooms/shower heads and increase the frequency of turn down service).

Additionally please note GRATUITY is ALREADY included in all the restaurants!! Didn't notice and double tipped everywhere :)

Would try again since we live nearby, with hopes for some tweaking to truly bring the property to it's full potential...

Hope this helps, KS

NOTE: We didn't try the Spa but heard it's an amazing asset to the property (along with the golf of course :)

Room Tip: Ask for lake view
