“Oceanfront Boutique Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2012

A wonderful blend of old school tradition with some modern touches (ie-patio with huge stone fieplaces/lounge chairs outside our room!). Lovely grounds & rooms. Reasonable price for all there is to offer. FIne dining/nice cocktail lounge overlooking the ocean. Staff first rate without the snobby attitude we despise. We usually shy away from "all on site" resorts because they can have that impersonal feel and are often like being in a concrete jungle. PVI is no such place-it's a large property but you feel like you are living in a classy neighborhood vs. a guest at a high rise hotel. We travel frequently and feel we found a true gem. Can't wait to make a return visit!

The Ponte Vedra Inn and Club is both a club and a resort which makes it unique - the amenities and service are all first class and you don't feel hustled like you might at a for-profit-only destination. There's great tennis (lit clay courts with a very active tennis program), a beautiful beach with a variety of pools (kiddie pool, lap pool, whirlpool), restaurants ranging from coat and tie to beach side dining, and shops sprinkled in all over (lots of Lilly Pulitzer and Vera Bradley stuff FYI), a fantastic new spa and of course golf. So, if you like a clubby atmosphere versus say Las Vegas style resort - with lots to keep you busy (for the active type) this place is great! We took my two teenage daughters and even they had a great time. Rooms range from motel type accomodations on the beach, to hotel type rooms in the main Inn to the Island House near the golf course. We stayed in the Island house which is the newest and the rooms were luxurious with patio or balcony and the building's own fire pit and hot tub. It's close to golf but further away from sym, spa, tennis - there's a golf cart to wisk you wherever you want to go if you ask. We would love to go back every year - even if weather isn't great the gym classes were extensive and complimentary, the spa services all looked fantastic and lots of places to shop and eat.

Room Tip: Rooms on beach closest to all amenities. Island House is the newest building and close to golf with...

This is our third visit and we continue to be amazed at how well the rooms are kept and the high quality of personal service. Golf is good (not stellar) but the proximity and privacy of balconys to beach is superb. We like Sanctuary at Kiawah but the rooms/balconys here are actually MUCH better. We love Sea Island but the ease of movement and lack of children (generally) makes this also very enjoyable. Value is excellent...perhaps best along the southeastern coast. Many thanks to the superb Katie Wilson who suggested our particular oceanfront in St. Johns building. Would recommend to family, friends and business colleagues. Its now an annual visit for us.

Room Tip: Island rooms are the biggest.....Oceanfront is worth the small added expense.

Thanks to TA helpers I ran into a great two for one deal at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. We paid for one night ($269 + tax & resort fee) and got the second free. We had a beach front room, very nicely decorated and five star service - turn down, robes and slippers, high quality toiletries, etc.. They even welcomed us with champagne and chocolates for my bday! The only reason I did not give it a 5-excellent rating was the A/C had a hard time keeping the room cool enough. There was a ceiling fan so we slept fine and I never called for service on it because we weren't in the room during the day. The room size was average, not as large as we expected being a five star resort. It is a beautiful property and the service was excellent and given the deal it was well worth it.

The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club well deserves it's 5 Diamond award status, as unlike many 5 Diamond / 5 Star Properties, the resort actually lives up to those standards. Set on a lovely oceanfront setting, the buildings and guest rooms were all perfect.

Pro's:
Guest rooms are quite large, and very well equipped. My room even had a small wet-bar areas that included dishes, a microwave, an empty mini-fridge plus the mini bar? I didn't use it - but it would have been super convenient had I been staying at the property for a number of days. The rest of the guest room was as you'd expect from a 5-diamond; nice bed, great bedding, lovely bathroom, etc.

Resort fee, while $20 per night, includes free wifi that easily works, without logging in, everywhere on the property. This is such a nice bonus, especially if you wanted to sit on your balcony while answering a few emails.

Fitness center, pools, etc., are all great, but the beach is really spectacular. The view from my room in the morning was really quite beautiful, with palm trees, sand and sea.

All of the staff I encountered were super helpful and friendly, but not overbearing.

Con's:
Not too many - I found the restaurants and room service menus some what uninspiring, but the food was good and not extortionately expensive.

Overall - if you're going to this area, I'd say the Inn & Club is well worth a visit!

Room Tip: I think all of the rooms are ocean front, so it'd be hard to go wrong; for security purposes you...

The facility is immaculate and the service is unmatched. I was in town for a few days and decided to stay here instead of staying at a mainstream type hotel. I would definitely stay here again. You can't top the view from the room overlooking the ocean.

Spent four days here and enjoyed every minute. The staff was superb, the rooms wonderful and the various restaurants were excellent. My colleague golfed and said it was excellent. I shopped and thought that was as good! Loved sitting in my beautiful room or deck sipping coffee and watching the water. Definitely worth a visit. The drive up to Atlantic Beach (lots of restaurants) and to St Augustine were terrific and worthwhile. Ponte Vedra is a great point for neighbouring visits like that.

Room Tip: The majority of rooms face the ocean although there are some on the golf course. I asked and got a w...
