“Wonderful Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2010

We have read plenty of reviews of this resort and most of them were positive, so we decided to give it a try and we are glad we did. A previous review stated something about harassment by the staff, we found no such thing. Signs are displayed that you cannot carry coolers or outside beverage and foods to the beach or pool area. We found plenty of restaurants in the area to eat (yes, you do need a rental car, but that was inexpensive at $184.00 for a week).
Very quiet at night, we had a Oceanfront room so the sound of the shore was very relaxing at night. Most of the day we were either at the beach, pool, or traveled to nearby Hollywood Beach, Ft. Lauderdale Beach, or South Beach Miami. That way housekeeping could clean and it was done each time when we returned.
My only downfalls were that the room had an "old" smell to it but I quickly got use to that within the day and the nightlife is zero, this is for relaxation only (another reason to rent a car at the airport).
Very good place to stay for the price and location!

Went for fourth of July weekend with family...booked 4 rooms. View for fireworks were good however, we were treated poorly the entire stay. First off were told we could not have our "TINY" cooler at the pool or on the beach that contained water for the children...had to go to 8th floor for a drink if we did not buy from hotel. Spent $100 two nights in a row for dinner and ordered out subs the 3rd night for a change...was told we could not eat food at any of the outdoor tables or on the beach if not bought at the hotel...had to pack 12 people into our room to finish eating after GM, Jack Miller, rudely told us to leave with our food "Can't you read the signs?". Later sitting under the cabana that we rented staff person came and closed it left us in the rain stating he had to close them. Have stayed at many a hotel and never been treated so poorly. They let drunk people wander around the pool and beach and keep serving the drinks till they pass out on lawn chairs but feel the need to harrass a mother with some water bottles...go figure!!

The Beachcomber is a full service resort that serves food and beverage. We have an indoor dining room and pool side Tiki Bar and we also offer outdoor poolside dining around both of our pool areas and beach (and have a server who waits on our guests in these areas). The hotel experiences extreemely high demand over the 4th of July weekend. Many people bring coolers full of food and beverage into the hotel which we do permit them to bring into their rooms. We have signs around the beach and our pools explaining that we do not permit coolers or glass bottles around our beach and pools. We issue a welcome letter to our guests explaining what the hotel offers as well as specific policies regarding safety and security such as no fireworks or BBQ allowed as they are a risk to our guests' safety and security. In this same letter we also explain that our beach and pool areas are an extention of our food and beverage operation and ask that if our guests do bring their own food and beverage that they consume that in their rooms; which we have no issue with. We also did post signs on all the tables explaining the policy that only the food and beverage we serve may be consumed in our public areas.

We respectfully disagree with the comments that one of our managers would be so insensitive to talk to a guest in this manner. In fact, Jack did speak to the guest at check out and did apologize if his remarks were taken out of context. We all know that no one likes to be told what they can and cannot do, even if we go out of our way to notify them of our policies, which we did make pefectly clear. This is like bringing your own food into a restaurant. For the record, the hotel serves exactly what these folks were eating for a very fair price. We do not harrass our guest if they bring plasitc bottled water or drinks in aluminum cans since we sell these items in our vending machines and do understand what families with children need.

We understand that the economy is tight right now. In fact when Jack did apologize the guest acknowledged our policy about consuming your own food in our public areas, but did not like having to be told this even though they chose not to accept this policy. Jack spoke to the guest respectfully and understood the sensitivity of the situation. We also understand that the guest is always right and again do apologize if this was their interpretation of the dialog.

We were staying at this hotel for a wedding on the beach. The outside of the resort was well kept and very pretty. The rooms needed major upgrading. Our rug was old and needed to be replaced. There was stains on the bathroom floor. The bed was confortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Since we were there for a wedding, I was able to see other rooms and some were better than ours but not anything to write about. If this hotel fixed up their rooms it would be a really nice place to stay!

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We have made a notation of your comments and will pass them along to the appropriate department manager. However, the hotel has been completely redone, including carpets and all other "soft goods" so I am surprised to hear of your comments on the carpeting. Again, thank you for your comments. Our family (9 yr old and 15 yr old) really liked this hotel alot. It was very clean, people were nice. We bought an oceanfront room for $115.00 a night and it was BEAUTIFUL! The pools were very clean, the beach was right there, hammocks, plenty of chairs. We didn't eat in the restuarant because we had family close by and ate at their house with an occasional outing for a meal. The only negative was it was hard to get hot water, if we got it all. Not worth complaining about because it's so hot in June who needs really hot water anyway? The tub didn't drain fast.....but....whatever. There's no place like home is there? We really got the feeling of being in a resort. It was nicely decorated. There is quite a variety of ways of living in this resort....like...hotel rooms....villas that sleep.....villas that sleep 8. The villas have a frig and microwave, no stoves but any cooking you can do in the room helps. We would recommend this place absolutley.

My sister and I stayed in Febuary for 4 days. We loved our oceanview partial room. We had a wonderful balcony. The room was large and contained a small kitchen without utensils but since I had read Tripadvisor ahead of time, I brough our own little plastic silverware. We were able to keep things in the fridge for a quick and cheap lunch. The weather was cool when we were there but we were able to swim in the heated pool since it felt as warm as bathwater. If I could get the same rate as last year, I would glady go back in Feb. of 2011.

This was our first time at the Beachcomber. We stay in the area a couple times a year to go to area casinos - usually bringing family from out-of-town. This hotel got some mixed reviews but enough good ones we thought it was worth a try. As always with older hotels on the beach, the first impression from the street/parking lot was "OK." Once we got to our room, saw our room and stepped out on the balcony, we LOVED it. This is a great older hotel. The room was quiet and spacious, the beds are very comfortable and the view from our balcony was awesome. We were only able to spend one night but we will be back! Great hotel, great staff, nice room and awesome view. Price was very reasonable, as well. We have stayed in some real dumps and paid a whole lot more.

We arrived 2 day's prior to our cruise and stayed one day post cruise. We were extremely happy with our room it was tastefully decorated and large. We were in a ocean view room and it had a large balcony with 2 nice big lounge chairs. My husband and I fell asleep on them the first night we were there. Listening to the ocean surf and the warm breeze just lulled us right to sleep!
The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly and also very helpful.
The outdoor area by the pool's was just beautiful and landscaped so nicely. They hosed and cleaned the pool area every morning.
Food in the dinning room was very good. The inside bar very cozy and the outside Tiki bar was great! Steve...you rock!! He's awesome!
We enjoyed our stay and we'll be back that's for sure!!
