“NICE PLACE, EXCELLENT STAFF”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

I stayed here over the 4th of July. The property is beautiful, the rooms are nice, the OF balconies are awesome, but the best thing I found here was the Staff. Every single one of them acted like they had just won $500!!! In fact, I asked a waitress while eating breakfast by the pool "how is it that everyone who works here is so happy?" Her answer was - "We love working here!" And it shows. The place was clean, the landscaping was really pretty, the tiki bar was fun (but a little pricey at $10/drink - but hey - it's vacation), and the beach was lovely. I loved having breakfast by the pool facing the ocean and it was good for $8 as was the coffee!! I didn't give it 5 stars because it is a little older property, but I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Spent the extra few $$ for the oceanfront room, the huge balconies are wonderful.

We did a girls getaway here 6-22-13 through 6-26-13. Our oceanfront room (#811) was worth the addtional money. The rooms were beautifully decorated in a Hemingway sort of theme and had a fridge and microwave. The large balcony had two comfortable padded chaise lounges with a fantastic view of the sunrise and the super moon! They have 2 pools, plenty of seating, and a nice beach. They even have a dining room set up on the beach. The Beachcomber also had the best hotel staff I've encountered traveling worldwide. From the time we arrived, Darby and Julene answered every question and made awesome restaurant recommendations for us - seafood the first day (The Fish Shack), steaks the second day, Italian the third day (Zucarelli's), and Mexican the last day (La Bamba). The hotel is located in a perfect spot on A1A halfway between Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton. It is a quiet area surrounded by timeshares, with not a lot of hustle and bustle of the Lauderdale beaches. I would give it more than 5 stars if there were more available.

Room Tip: Choose the oceanfront rooms.

Stayed at the Beachcomber 6-23-13 through 6-30-13. Laid back and sunny. We had an oceanfront king on the 3d floor with a great balcony overlooking it all. An older place, but well maintained and clean. Staff are mostly friendly and welcoming. Tons to do in the area, but you'll need wheels...or cab fare. Incredible value.

My husband and I were looking for a little getaway that would be somewhat local. After looking at numerous hotels and reading what seemed like a million reviews we decided to give the Beachcomber a try AND I am glad we did. From the moment we walked in we knew we were going to be happy. The front office was great and very courteous. Our room (801) was beautiful and the bed was very large and comfy. My favorite part of the room had to be the balcony though! We spent most of our time laying on the lounge chairs and sipping on pina coladas :) We weren’t able to spend much time in the pool or the beach because the two nights we were there it poured non-stop pretty much.
The Beachcomber is our new little place to sneak away too from now. We have told all of our friends and family about this little gem. We will definitely be back and hopefully this time the sun will shine a little longer.

Room Tip: All rooms have beautiful views

We stayed here for five nights in an oceanfront king. The balcony is fabulous, awesome view of the beach and ocean. We stayed in room 310, on the corner so we had a great view upfront and to the right. Some people suggest a room on a higher floor but we really enjoyed the palmtrees in our view from the third floor -- it gave us a really tropical feeling. You also do not need the elevator now to get to and from the beach and swimming pool, the stairs are nearby. The room is very spacious, you have your own sitting area in a pantry and a large sleeping room with a big comfortable bed. Great to sit with your feet in the sand and have a meal in the open air restaurant. Parking is free and there is always parking space available (certainly across the road). No resort fee either. We found that renting beds on the beach is costly. The room and compund show obvious signs of wear and tear, Our final night we discovered that you hear easily noise of your neighbours in the room above you. The other nights we never heard a thing. Our negative experience has been with the reception staff. They act not really friendly, almost bad tempered. They certainly do not make you feel a welcome guest. Both the check-in and the check-out process left us with a very unpleasant feeling. Both times we looked at eachother "what is happening here": we regularly travel in The States and are used to a more welcoming attitude.

My wife and I just stayed there this past week.

Customer service, and over all cleanliness of the property is easy 5 stars. Restaurant food is delicious and plentiful. Front desk attendants are very helpful and attentive the couple of times we required assistance.

Loss of one star for there being only 1 ice machine which services entire hotel and is always empty of ice. You have to go to the bar with your room ice bucket.

...housekeeping. We only got it once as they continually showed up around 4:00pm and by that time we were barely getting back from the beach/pool and needed to get ready to go out to dinner. We were consistently up and out of the room by 8:30 and I'm used to housekeeping by noon.

WIFI....total joke. Constantly kicks you off, and you have to constantly keep re logging in and putting in password. I turned it off and just used my normal data. Way faster.

Other than that, I'm very much looking forward to my next stay. We loved the resort. TJ shuttle services which provides shuttle from airport to hotel, is also great!

Room Tip: Try the beachcomber Benedict. Amazing! John makes a mean 'gold' margarita!
