“Relaxing vacation at the Beachcomber Pompano Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Stayed Nov 5-9 in room 801 - Oceanview.
Overall a great value for the money.
Positives: Directly on a very nice section of beach. Nice, well kept pools. The main pool by the Tiki bar is kept at a nice warm temp. Lots of nice lounge chairs and tables with shade for eating. Cushions for the lounge chairs are an extra $2/day.
Food at tiki bar was very good. HIghly recommend it for lunch and appetizers. Drinks were expensive. Staff all very friendly. Wish they had music playing at the pool - it was only at the tiki bar. No A/C in the lobby. Elevators have been updated and are very fast.
We had a king bed - ocean view room. The room was spacious and clean and the bed itself comfortable. However, very dark ambience. I would prefer a more updated / bright look. But.. it was still very very nice.
Bed was very comfy. Loved the balcony with 2 large lounge chairs - with cushions! Could see the sun rise over the ocean in the morning and set over the city in the evening.
Dislikes; There is only 1 ice machine on the lobby floor. It did work very well and had lots of ice when we needed it. But, would be nice to have more.
I really disliked the bedding ! I would rate this hotel better if the rooms were brightened up and the bedding was upgraded. The 'comforter' was only a sheet covered with an old scratchy blanket and then another sheet. They come apart and is not warm or comfortable. Please upgrade to duvets on your beds ! Other than that.. no complaints about the hotel and would definitely stay again.
The area is very quiet. If you are looking for alot of bars and night life, it is not at or near this hotel. You will have to walk approx 20 minutes to where there are a few more bars and shops. Again.. not a big night life.
Directly across the street there is a small bar 'Stingers'. Great food.. specialize in pizza. They do have a karaoke bar there also. There is also a small convenience store and a beach/souvenir store .. across the street.

Room Tip: I wouldn't pay the extra $$ for the ocean front room. Ocean view was great!

“Great Location and hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I was really pleasantly surprised with this hotel after reading mixed reviews.
The hotel is right on the beach as well as being close to places to eat or shop.
We had 3 ocean view rooms. The decor was nice and the rooms were very spacious.
The bathrooms could have been a bit bigger tho.

Room Tip: Request rooms together if you want them together - i booked 3 rooms at the same time but ended up wi...

“"Beautiful Hotel right on the beach!"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

My husband and I stayed here on a living social deal. The location is fantastic, right on the beach with 2 pools and a tiki bar. Our room was beautiful with a dark wood and island decor. The big king size bed was comfy although the pillows were not. Included in our stay was a cabana on the beach which we really enjoyed. The bar staff was friendly and so was the front desk. I was a bit hesitant because while making reservations they were a bit rude. They could also use a hot tub. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again.

“Beach, value, tiki bar - what else do you need?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights recently while visiting my college senior daughter. Property has two pools - one is for the quiet types, the other attracts the tiki bar crowd. The property is right on the beach, so no worries there about crossing traffic.

The bartenders at the tiki bar were great and treated us like regulars from the first order to the last (with many in between!). There's liive music Thursday - Sunday nights poolside by the tiki bar. Not sure if he's always there, but Patrick played the Friday, Saturday and Sunday that we were there. Great guy, can play just about anything you ask him to.

The rooms were very nice, high end furnishings, updated bathroom. The only complaint would be the old-school tube TV with 20 channels. I guess the resort is geared to keep you outside having fun, but it would have been nice to watch TV at night on a decent TV.

The restaurant downstairs serves a nice breakfast, for a moderate price (about the same as you'd spend at Denny's or IHOP). The only thing included with the room for free would be the in-room coffee pot.

All in all, there's no way to beat the experience at $110 a night on the beach.

Room Tip: All of the rooms had balconies with a view of the ocean. If you want quiet, suggest the rooms away...

“Great deal for ocean front”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We went for a one night getaway on November 6th and couldn't have been more pleased with the great location. Beautiful beachfront and really nice landscaping. Pool was really warm, which is important to me although dh was bemoaning no hot tub.

I had determined that I wanted an oceanfront hotel just for the ease of getting back and forth to the beach but hadn't been willing to pay big bucks. So I decided this would be a good place from the reviews and then went to Hotwire for an unnamed hotel, which was this one. Since the price was so low we ended up with an European (translation small) economy room. We had a view to the condos next door but that was OK for the price. Very quiet with a really comfortable bed. Decor has lots of dark, heavy wood and you must remember this is an older hotel.

Staff were very friendly. Beach was great with no general access there so that cut down the number on the beach. I'm not sure how full the hotel was, but it seems like it could be problematic that there is only one ice machine on the main floor by the elevator. To be fair, it always had ice when I went and the elevators are very speedy.

My guess is the maintenance on this older hotel would be a nightmare. We noted upon leaving that our tub didn't drain well at all, which they wrote down. In the morning I could hear a maintenance man banging on a nearby door calling to them about water in the bathroom. Not sure if it was a maintenance issue or they just forgot to turn off the tub...... From the urgency it sounded like there must be a flood in the room below.

We couldn't get a room upgrade without paying an extra $25. But we noted that the balconies are really great sizes, in fact much bigger than most condos these days. We thought we'll get a balcony next time as this is a great place to visit for a return beach getaway.

Room Tip: Look at Hotwire's unnamed hotels as we could easily match it up for a better deal.
