“Home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

I had lunch at Umberto's Restaurant on Commercial Blvd. it had such a nice homely feeling, I felt I was back in N.Y. Lunch consisted of a salad, a cup of minestrone and pasta Primavera. Everything was delicious including the garlic knots.

The price was right, the server was very friendly, the food was delicious, the pasta had an ample amount of vegetables especially mushrooms, and the place was warm and inviting. I would go back to Umberto's whenever I am in the Pompano, Lauderdale by the sea area.

“Great Pizza, Service a Little Off”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

First off, the address on here is incorrect. They are in a different location just across the intercoastal waterway, not right before it. We had chosen to walk from our hotel and in the heat, the confusion and the extra walk was a bit annoying.

The pizza was excellent -- lots of choices. Garlic rolls were only $2.50 for a dozen, so we thought they must be tiny, but when they came out they were very large, and covered in garlic (great if you really like garlic). Only drawback was that the service was a little slow and strange. Maybe it was just our particular server, but it took her a while to take our order, and even with 4 hungry kiddos in our party, actually interrupted taking our order when someone at a nearby table asked for the check. She stopped taking our order, went and got their check and waited for them to pay before coming back to finish our order. Refills had to be requested.

“Average Takeout - Not so Average Hours”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

We tried to takeout for lunch at Umberto's this past weekend to find out that they no longer are open for lunch so we opted to get takeout for Dinner. There were 4 of us eating a light dinner, so we ordered a pizza, a sausage, peppers and onion sandwich and an order of meat ravioli. The pizza was thin and crispy but on the small size. The sauce was decent. We are originally from the NJ/NY area although we live in NC now, so good sauce and a nice thin crust can make or break a pizza. This pizza had both, but was a little overcooked. It was very well done. The sausage sandwich was good but a little dry (no sauce). Finally the ravioli was a little overcooked and mushy. Again the sauce was good, but the pasta a bit overcooked. The pasta did come with a small salad and 2 garlic rolls. I would have preferred Umberto's for lunch, but for takeout it was ok for dinner. I would definitely try it again.

“pizza delivery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

I spent a week up in the Pompano/Lauderdale By the Sea area a few weeks ago. We ordered delivery pizza twice during our stay from Umberto's. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time, hot and fresh. Pizza had the little plastic piece in the middle of box to prevent damage. The family enjoyed the pizza so we order a second time a few days later. We also got a large grilled chicken salad and cheese sticks. The salad and pizza were awesome. Stay away from the cheese sticks, they were not impressive. They delivered straight to our hotel room. No walking to main area. We will get pizza from Umberto"s again!

“Pizza and Family is there more?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

Over the last 10 years or we have met at Umberto's for dinner. By 'we' I mean our family which was 23 people this year. We are always welcome and treated as family. This year we even had our own room. The pizza choices are plentiful and good. The price is very reasonable, The service was attentive and friendly...... and we had a great time.
