“Very nice accommodations and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2010

The resort was across A1A to the beach...the road was not highly traveled with easy access to the beach. Ocean was nice and warm, we rented an umbrella and 2 chairs at the discounted price of $10 which starts after 1pm to 5pm. The building on the ocean only had efficiencies. The resort itself had an Old Florida Key West feel. The building was very clean, maybe slightly dated however i can't think of anything to complain about with the exception of having to pay for the wi fi in the unit at $6.95 per day. Free wi fi in the lobby. We stayed on the 4th floor, in a 2 bedroom suite. 3 nice pools, the one by our building was heated and very enjoyable. A nice tiki bar in close proximity. Many restaurants within a short drive, some on the causeway. The atmosphere was nice and peaceful with a few people on the beach. Not as isolated as I had expected. Just right. I would definitely go back. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

A little slow to check in, and sometimes parking is a problem. But they put in a brand new pool, and the Tiki bar drinks are great. It is located a few miles from Lauderdale by the sea. and we even drove down to south beach a few times

This hotel was very nice - we stayed in the BEST room ever! It was a 2 bedroom deluxe on the 8th floor of the Ocean Palms Tower - which was across the street from the ocean. It had a great balcony with a great view of the ocean, but there were a lot of buildings in the view as well. It was a hike to the beach, but it was pretty with the gardening and landscaping through the hotel grounds. The place was fairly quiet and I know they have just started renovating the waterfall area in front of where we stayed. The front desk was very helpful, we did go to the time share meeting to get the $100.00 AMEX gift card! We were promised that it would be 90 minutes, but it was not - it was closer to 2 hours and 15 minutes. which annoyed us because we were ready for the beach! The other plus to this hotel was the kitchen and 2 bedroom - 2 bath! We were able to cook anything, open the huge balcony doors and enjoy the breeze. We did not go to the pool, but they were all clean. The beach was nice and the water was amazing!

Things to do around there - we were recommended to go to The Irish Pub down the road, but we didn't. We did make it to the Bearded Clam to just go in and have the bartender tell us she was so buzzed - so we left! We went to the Calzone Factory which was AMAZING! Another place we headed to was Las Olas Blvd down in Fort Lauderdale. It was a cute strip of shopping and dining. We ate at Mancini's (with our $100.00 gift card) and it was AMAZING!!!! We also went on the alligator tour with the Sawgrass Recreation Park - it was awesome! Saw a lot! they also have a rescue facility there that takes care of Florida native animals that have been raised as pets and are no longer wanted. So sad - but glad they have a place to stay - wolves, panthers, bobcats, etc... It was worth it!!! We also rented our car with Sunshine Car Rental - sooo much cheaper and they were very accommodating!
So over all - great place to stay, but I am a beach lover who loves to stay on the beach - So I would rather book a room on the ocean side. Service and location was great and I would definitely go again!

Apart from a protracted (25 minute) check-in process, my party was entirely satisfied with our stay at Wyndham Sea Gardens. We had a deluxe studio in a building on the beach, and found it clean and well-maintained. An adjacent building was undergoing renovation, which made it a bit noisy around the pool a couple of afternoons, but not unreasonably so. We did not take advantage of the resort's activities or other amenities, but found the beach clean and beautiful.

The Cons:
Needs modernising...the property we stayed in Ocean Palms is clean & comfortable but I would have prefered a more up-to-date environment.
My girls complained that the pool by the tiki-bar tasted of feet...eeeewwwww...i took their word for it and did not try it for myself.
The pools generally could have been alittle more imaginative. The best one is the one by the beach.
Free WiFi throughout the property would have been a cherry on the top for me.
The Pros:
The Gardens are lovely to walk through.
The staff are very accommodating.
The Activities was a good occasional break for everyone from the pool or beach.
The Beach Access is great!!! Oh except the main road crossing but it was not too busy when we were there.
Location was good for us, Fort Laud was 15mins away and Miami 30mins..

We stayed one night in one of the older units on the west side. It was clean but dated. The bed slept well which was a real plus. The tiki bar closed at 8;00 so it was closed when we returned from dinner... bummer. The hours for the hot tub were 6am to 10 pm. We got back from dinner around 10 pm and we got in the hot tub and security did not ask us to leave. We stayed there until after 11:00 when we felt like we had pushed the rules enough. The staff was really nice. We are going back for pleasure with some friends in three weeks. We are staying at the Ocean Palms building which is supposed to be much nicer. We will give you a report back.

I can only speak for the timeshare units which is where we stay. I have no idea which rooms are rented to the general public. First, I would like to address the reviewers who think the buildings on the side of the road away from the beach are terrible. We actually prefer these rooms. We have stayed in the Ocean Palms Tower - very nice, huge units. This year we stayed in the Waterfalls Condos which are four stories high. We had two units connected together for our group. Both the Ocean Palms and Waterfalls have big balconies which we adore. We spend every morning having our coffee and breakfast out there. In the Ocean Palms, if you are lucky enough to get the rod iron balconies, you have a more enjoyable view than the solid terra cotta wall balconies. The units facing the Intercoastal Waterway are our favorites because there is so much activity - boats, beautiful homes, the Good Year Blimp Hangar. In our Waterfalls rooms this year, we had a balcony on the 4th floor that was just above the tops of a beautiful variety of palm trees. This was equally as pleasant. All members of our party shared the opinion that we prefer these views to an ocean view - but that's personal preference. Our feeling is "while we adore the beach, a beach view isn't necessarily the best view".

The beach is not that far from both of these buildings. You walk through the resort and across the road. Just plan your trip, take care crossing the road (it's not that horrible, but you must be careful) and you will be fine. If you have any one in your party who would have a problem walking over, then take one of the studios.

The units on the beach are smaller studios and the balconies are so tiny that they aren't really for sitting out. We immediately decided that they weren't for us - beach or not. Just do your research when making reservations, even if it requires a phonecall to a knowledgeable person at the resort. Then you won't be surprised at things like crossing the road to a beach. I always do research, so I'm surprised at some of the comments.

The grounds of the resort are beautiful. This is another reason we prefer staying on the side of the road opposite the beach. You have immediate access to the tropical grounds. We are owners of a newer Wyndham property in the area, but actually prefer Sea Gardens because of the tropical atmosphere. The four pools are very nice and the one by the Ocean Palms Building is lined with Royal Palm trees which provide some shade. The largest pool is great for families and kids. The smallest pool is by an older building that still looks very well cared for from the outside and reminds me of old Florida. It is a small pool, but you can swim in any pool you want to with a short walk. I can't speak for the interior of these units. The fourth pool is the one across the road by the beach. It's a very nice pool, but no shade.

We've never had any problem with the cleanliness of our rooms. They are well stocked with all your kitchenware, coffee starter kits and popcorn, little salt and pepper shakers, etc.

The washers and dryers always come in handy. I pop towels or beachtowels in, clothing. They supply you with plenty of laundry detergent.

We just said "no" regarding the presentation - we had just agonized through one in May at Myrtle Beach. They never even called us a second time. We just wanted to relax.

On Mondays, they have an orientation. They tell you about activities right at the resort and other outings outside of the resort. On Thursdays, they have a well organized bus trip to Key West which we always do. You get to spend six hours in Key West on your own. They also have Everglades tours. Something that I don't remember before is that they converted the ballroom to a spa for two different mornings and gave free facials and I think arm and hand massages to guests. I was dying to do this, but we had made other plans.

They also have two barbeques at the Tiki Hut Bar during each week. One day they had giant burritos that you filled with various toppings. The other day they had hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken wings. The prices are reasonable. The employee doing the grilling was so nice, we had a great time.

This is not the Four Seasons, nor do I want it to be, but it is a very appealing resort. We have been there about 5 times. This is a casual resort. Great for families.

Other things I noticed that may not seem important - but really make your time more pleasant -- There are bathrooms at various places near the pools. We had stayed at another Wyndham timeshare in Myrtle Beach where you had to actually leave the beach/pool area and go up to the lobby where there was a one room bathroom. Not acceptable! The bathrooms seemed to be kept clean and stocked with toilet seat covers and soap.

There is a snack bar with fresh fruit, Cuban type meat pies, sandwiches, salads, desserts.

The location of Sea Gardens is great. Whether you want to explore shopping, historical places, restaurants, they are all close and easy to get to.

The rooms are do for remodeling. I think some of them may have been done already, I'm not sure. Fabrics on chairs and carpets do get spots from constant use. They recently remodeled the lobby area and it is very nice. They had samples of gorgeous fabrics and wall and floor coverings hanging on display in the lobby. These are going to be used when they do a renovation of the rooms this winter. One of the themes was red coral with wonderful plaid and striped accent fabrics in complimentary colors. I can't wait to see the finished rooms. The choices looked fabulous.

I'm sure we will be going back next summer to see the newly remodeled Sea Gardens.
